Faceless Killers: Kurt Wallander
Faceless Killers: Kurt Wallander
by Henning Mankell
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.99

4.0 out of 5 stars quite good, 15 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
this is my first Wallander book, translation into English seemed a bit stilted and overly simplistic to me, I watched the Kenneth Branagh version as well as the Swedish tv versions, and came to the book this way.

1.0 out of 5 stars 1 star is for terrible print job, 6 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
remind me to never, ever, buy a hardback printed in Italy....the print job on the hardback version I bought was just so bad it was beyond laughable.....looks like a badly photocopied job.....margins are way off so beginnings and ends of sentences have been cut off...not by bad paper trimming, but missed off of the printing 'plate'....zero quality control.... Also the text is very bad impression..looks fuzzy to me, but hey it was a used 1p copy....but still..publisher should have junked them instead of offloading onto the 2nd and book market

5.0 out of 5 stars Black not Blue!, 13 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
apart from the colour being black and not blue as listed...this a cool little notebook, I got it as a cheap alternative to a full blown laptop...hence no DVD/CD drive, but you can get an external ASUS CD Drive from Amazon for about £20 if you need to load any photos from old discs etc. It is lovely and cool to the touch, no overheating so far, Windows 10 is VERY different to my old Vista Home Basic, took a while to start to get used to it. I got a Cruze Thumb Stick to expand the memory, but it comes with Cloud storage facility as standard in any case. Light on your lap, very portable, good bright display, keys are positive, no squishy or sticky keys and the touch pad is responsive and smooth once I got used to not having a scrolling feature like my old ACER laptop.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pants instructions for inserting the SIM card, 26 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Inserting the supplied SIM card was frustratingly; annoyingly; brain hurtingly' blood pressure rampingly too hard for my large fingers, instructions that came with the phone are far too generic and vague, a pants illustration does not fully instruct you how to do it, I tried over and over but when powered on the phone did not recognize the card, so I had to trek into town on the bus and go to a Vodafone store and ask them to do it, the sales assistant trashed it as a "nasty" Chinese made "monstrosity" which I had to agree with, in the end he got the SIM card into place, it was a bodge up as the holder is too far to the left, not a nice slot for the card to slide into, nor like my old phone an indented section the shape of the card. This has not made me a fan of this phone, but for £20 I musn't grumble, but this IS a Chinese made plasticky, cheapo phone, designed by a small fingered designer, not suitable for large Westerners, not being racist but Asians are tiny people and they have hands to match that are better suited for fiddling with teeny tiny components, the menus page is good though, nice and large and bright for my eyes....just a pity the instructions are scant and missing a step by step guide to inserting the SIM card..I mean..does it go right to the left, right t the right or somewhere in the middle, does the metal holder flip up to close over the SIM....it doesn't say or make it clear, Also when powering up the battery there doesn't seem to be way to tell when it is fully charged, forget the instructions as they do not tell you the length of time a full charge up takes, I left it on overnight, which was probably more than needed..but who knows? There is a graphic that comes on when you plug it into the mains but this disappeared after a while. I went on Yahoo and Google but just found lots of forums where folks were finding the SIM card inserting hard......and a Youtube video that was useless too, these guys have to realize folk like me need proper step by step instructions, an "insert here" is not good enough, I need a "Fitting a SIM card into a Vodafone Smart first 6" for Dummies book with life sized photographs

1.0 out of 5 stars no use for Bluetooth headphones, 7 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: ITV Hub (App)
I downloaded this for my Amazon Fire TV 'box' but as I use a pair of Bluetooth headphones linked to the Fire box to listen to dialogue on shows I found that the time lag between lip movements and sound is way out of synch so was unwatchable..time lag on other apps bad but not this bad

This stuff is brilliant, after one week my new tattoo is healing like magic, easy to apply it is thicker than Nivea and it absorbs easily into the skin, excellent way to protect your new tat after it has been finished or is still a work in progress, better than nappy cream others use i reckon

5.0 out of 5 stars Superlative.....the best cafetiere ever? Certailnly, 6 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The story so far...I used to use a glass French Press I bought in Tesco....during an amorous encounter on Sunday morning with my wife, a grapple and cuddle in the kitchen resulted in a booty bash knocking it onto the stone floor and the glass was smashed to smithereens, so I bought another glass replacement FP from Amazon....as i was opening up the box it came in I butter fingered it into the sink and...kaboom....more glass bits. So I decided to invest, and it is an investment as you are paying more than a cheapo FP...in a stainless steel cafetiere. The Savisto is the bees knees, the plunger/filter is such a good tight fit I don't get any more "gritty granules" in my mug of java, it is smooth and creamy, my 3 cup version is a perfect 1/2 pint mug full, the coffee is good an hot as it pours, coffee tastes better too, and I feel very sophisticated or as they say in 'Gay Paree' a café connaisseur, very glamorous, so I shall have to get some proper french coffee cups, check out these babies:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B013WWE044?psc=1

The Savisto cleans up easily and is a nicely balanced weight, so no danger of knocking it over, unless "ma femme amoureuse" should get fruity..but I think it will bounce with a satisfying badoinnnnnggggg, and not a smassssshhhzzzzzz.

You even get a natty spoon with integrated crocodile clip to keep to coffee bag tight shut and the coffee grounds fresh, I use Lidls' Colombian pre-ground coffee which is a fine grind, and that works well with the Savisto

5.0 out of 5 stars It works!, 11 Oct. 2015

Does do exactly what it says on the bottle...I fixed a cat hammock that had been ripped to shreds, It was easy to use and it set like a rock...good as new. I didn't try it on any clothes rips, but I would think that with careful application it would work fine, bit like making an Airfix kit...use sparingly and don't smudge. I would think a cotton bud would be good as an applicator for patches or sequins on jeans and so forth, I can see that joining two halves of a rip might need something on the back of the material to re-enforce the join. On the whole a good cheap alternative to throwing away the item, better than sewing? It was for me.
