I bought this along with another game I had been eagerly anticipating for some time, The Darkness 2. As a testament to how compulsive Singularity is,that game still remains unplayed.
Sure, it draws together elements from other quality games, but it establishes it's own identity quickly, and it soon becomes obvious that this is a game that has the courage of it's own convictions.
As a 47 year old gamer, my enthusiasm for console time does tend to wax and wane depending on what's out there. There is so much bland, painting by numbers crap around that actually listening to what my wife says for once begins to seem mildly appealing.... But then along comes a hidden gem like Singularity, with carefully crafted atmosphere, intelligence, imagination, and a refreshing lack of condescension. A criminally overlooked, quality game that reminds me that, at 47 years of age, it's still ok to have fun.
