5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Mr President, 1 Jan. 2010
A fantastic read and a brilliant story. How lucky America is is to have a great guy like this as their leader.
We in the UK have had Blair and worse now got Brown who are both completely useless.
Obama`s rise from the slums to the White House is the stuff of fairy tales.
He is without doubt apart from Bob Marley, Nelson Mandela and Mike Tyson the greatest black man in the history of the world.
God Bless America for voting for him.

5.0 out of 5 stars The First Pop Star, 1 Jan. 2010
This review is from: The Best Of Al Jolson (Audio CD)
The man who inspired everyone from Rod Stewart to Michael Jackson.
And whereas Jacko went from black to white jolson started white and ended up black.
In a way he was responsible for two-tone music a generation before Jerry Dammers, `The Specials` and The King Of Pop.
This album is a fitting tribute to THE JAZZ SINGER.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Of Bowie, 1 Jan. 2010
This review is from: Best Of Bowie (Audio CD)
This is probably the best Greatest Hits collection of all-time from the number one rock performer.
David Bowie isnt just a living legend he is also the soundtrack of poular culture from 1972 to the present day.
From Ziggy Stardust to The Young American Bowie has ruled the world of pop music.
As well writing brilliant timeless songs he has also inspired everyone from The Sex Pistols to Spandau Ballet.
Without Bowie teaming up with Iggy Pop there would of been no punk rock.
If he hadnt of evented Glam there would of been no new romantics. No Boy George or Spandau Ballet.
And without his Hunky Dory and Aladin Sane albums no Oasis, Blur or Buzz Kids.
Bowie is the main reason that we now have/had Paul Weller, Oasis, Blur, punk poet Garry Johnson, Mott The Hoople, Lou Reed.
This album is a must for all music fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Punk Poet Garry Johnson, 1 Jan. 2010
This review is from: Punk Poet (Audio CD)
This is a brilliant autobiography about Irish Cockney punk poet Garry Johnson.
And because every chapter is like a real-life soap its easy to see why its being made into a movie.
The showbiz columns in the national press confirm that East End actor Ray Winstone has been chosen to play the lead role with Amanda Holden playing girlfriend Donna.
The Punk Poet charts the journey of our hero from football to rock&roll via petty crime and sex & drug addiction.
It is a story with many highs and numerous lows.
Our hero has an addictive personality and at various times is hooked playing football, drugs, sex, his wife and Punk Rock.
It is also a brutally frank look at where his life went wrong and he bravely blames it all on his father.
A horrible self-obsessed, selfish waste of space who he describes as "the sort of bloke you`d like as a mate - but wouldnt want as your dad"
The Punk Poet claims if it wasnt for his dad `messing up" his own childhood that he would still be happily married.
Three people are the villians in this book and two of them get slaughtered in print while the third gets five bullets pumped into his
fat head.
The Punk Poet admits to diisliking his dad, hating Richard Grimson but wont struggles to say a `bad word` against the most important and infuential person in his life.
Thus proving there is a thin line between love & hate.
To sum up if you only read one book this year - READ THIS.

Boys of the Empire: Modern Rock Lyrics

Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars The Great British Novel, 1 Jan. 2010
Probably the best novel since Orwell`s 1984. It is a blockbuster, a page-turner and a classic piece of writing.
The author who has already written such gems as The Gangster Of Slang, The Punk Poet, Till Death Us Do Part, Richard Grimson Is Guilty and The Story Of My Life is without doubt our greatest living writer.
He is Charles Dickens for the Chav Generation.
In this novel Garry Johnson charts the rise and fall and rise of Joey Teen.
The main character in this book is at times referred to as `The nearly man`. He is kicked when he`s down but always bounces back. Joey is damaged but never broken.
This novel is a sort of love story without being wet or soppy. It is violent when called for and x-rated when the plot calls for adult orientated entertainment.
It is basically the continuing story of TDUDP and the slaughter of former pimp and child abuser Richard Grimson.
The Essex nonce executed by East End villians.
It is also the story of a devoited dad who cant understand why he lost
the love of his life.
Only unlike the previous novels we did get all the answers to all the questions.
I wont spoil it for other readers or fans of the Joey Teen trilogy but in the pages of this novel a `miscarraige of justice` is overturned and there is a happy ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars White Mod God, 1 Jan. 2010
This review is from: Soul Book (Audio CD)
A brilliant album from Rod the Mod who is without doubt the greatest white soul singer of all-time.
There are no weak tracks on this album and every song is a killer.
He may be another year older but his still has that fantastic voice and the best haircut in the history of rock & roll.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amanda Holden Is A British Institution, 1 Jan. 2010
Amanda Holden is without doubt the best actress of her generation.
She can play any type of role. In this her comedy timing is perfect.
I look forward to her forthcoming role as a sexy gangsters mole in the film version of The Punk Poet.
Amanda certainly does have The X Factor.
