5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fantastic!, 27 May 2004
This review is from: Dead Letters (Audio CD)
This fantastic 5th album of the Finnish rock group "The Rasmus" is described best with these words: energetic, powerful, melodic & melancholic.
"First day of my life" convinces with hard guitar riffs and a great melody.
"In the shadows" is fantastic rock with a melody that will never leave your head once you've heard it.
"Still standing" is one of my personal favourites. It's a wonderful rock ballad that really goes to your heart thanks to singer Lauri's beautiful voice.
"In my life" is the most powerful song on "Dead Letters".
"Time to burn" is slower, but hard guitar riffs and again Lauri's voice make it a really good song.
"Guilty" is another favourite of mine, a perfect, well-balanced rock masterpiece with a striking melody.
"Not like the other girls" is again slower and contains some beautiful guitar solos. You'll carry it in your heart straight away!
"The one I love" is another great rock song.
"Back in the picture" really catches you and wants you to join in the singing.
"Funeral song" is the most emotional and also the darkest song on Dead Letters. Lauri is singing about his ex-girlfriend and describes how he dies in his dreams with his voice full of soaring beauty and melancholy. On this album version of FS, there is only very little background and no drums.
"F-f-f-falling" is definitely a great rock song and proved that by being a major hit single in Finland in 2001!
"If you ever" is also great rock and tells you a good deal about friends. A wonderful song!
"What ever" is a really great piece again; you'll catch yourself singing it most of the time as its melody is really fantastic!
All in all, Dead Letters is a must for everybody who likes good music. This album really contains 13 fantastic songs, each of them better than the other. You can listen to it every day, it doesn't get boring. I do it since summer last 2003 and I love it more every day. Have fun with it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious!!, 27 May 2004
This review is from: Peep (Audio CD)
This is the debut album of Rasmus made in 1996 (they are now known as “The Rasmus”). The four band members were 16 at the time they made this, and that shows their amazing musical talent: “Peep” contains a very good mixture of songs and styles and is very much different to the newest album “Dead Letters”. First of all, you are greeted by a sweet baby’s ‘hello’. “Ghostbusters” is a remake of the title of the TV series and is a very good song. “Postman” has elements of saxophone and a lot of cymbal and a nice make-up. “Fool” already goes more in the direction of rock and has a very nice melody. “Shame” is harder still and singer Lauri does some “rapping” here – but good sing-rap. “P.S.” is less hard, a bit more big band style and a great melody. “Julen är här igen” is a very nice rock-pop-big band style song, very nice to listen to. “Peep” is a little surprise, a song without singing-only laughing. “Frog” is a harder, up-tempo-like song and very good. “Funky jam” is very funny, a lot of cymbal and a comical rap make this song a real highlight. Try to catch the text if you can! “Outflow” is a very good song, a nice melody and good guitar and bass arrangement mix up to a great song. “Myself” is the first song that Lauri had written. He sings fairly low and very nice. A fantastic song! “Life 705” is a more quiet song where Lauri’s voice can really show itself very well. “Small” is also arranged between rock, pop and big band but also contains “harder” elements and again a lot of cymbal. Afterwards the baby says ‘goodbye’ - but do not stop the CD, otherwise you will miss a funny bit where you can learn a few words of Finnish if you listen well.
“Peep” is a great album, I daresay the best debut album existing at all. It has a great variety of songs and is therefore a really good choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 27 May 2004
This review is from: Playboys (Audio CD)
This is album No.2 from „Rasmus"(today „The Rasmus") dating from 1997. The four guys have developed quite a bit since "Peep" but still have a great variety in their music. "Playboys", a nice, rocky song with an in-going melody, is really a good song. "Blue" is also a very good song with fairly tranquil and rocky moments. "Ice" is one of the highlights on this album. A really fantastic song, great melody, great arrangement and a strong tendency to make you head bang and sing with it. "Sophia" is another wonderful piece of music with nice up going elements. "Wicked Moments" is a harder and darker song. "Wellwell" is maybe even harder, but shows a great melody through the rock - a great song! "Sold" is what I call a hey-ho song - it's quieter, but it's fun to listen to and fun to sing the parts you can. "Carousel" is really cute, a rock song with seemingly childish elements which ends up in a fantastic song. "Jailer" would remind a bit of Robbie Williams - but it is older than Robbie's songs. Mainly a normal guitar and the Lead singer's voice make a wonderful song. "Kola" returns to the hard side, containing a lot of "shouting" and "rap". "Raggatip" is song to listen to when you're longing for summer and sunshine - or when you've got them. It's a really nice Reggae-type song with a tiny bit of Finnish melancholy. "Violence" reminds the listener of "Ghostbusters", it's made in a similar style. "Panda" is a very nice song, more quiet again, with a fantastic melody and a great voice. A song that will stay in your mind!
So, "Playboys" is a really great album, its style is far away from the most recent album (Dead Letters) but it's great, just a completely different album. Enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely superb!, 24 May 2004
This review is from: Into (Audio CD)
Into is the 2001 album of the Finnish rock group "The Rasmus". It is brighter than "Dead Letters" and you can really say it is pure rock at its best. 1.Madness is really as fantastic as the title says and rocks your house properly (as well as your soul). 2.Bullet is a song you mustn't miss, rock pure again. 3.Chill is more quiet but also very good. 4.F-f-f-falling smashed the Finnish charts in 2001 and makes you jump around. 5.Heartbreaker really goes to your heart. The singer makes sure of that with his delicate, strong voice full of soaring beauty. 6.Smash is also a very good title. 7.Someone else is also a song you cannot stop hearing, rock full of heartbeat. 8.Small town is so good that it nearly forces you to sing with it, you'll love it! 9.One&only is one of the most rocking songs on this album and will really rock you! Last but not least, 10.Last Waltz shows that these guys also have a soft side and is really, really beautiful. So have fun with this cd, you can hear it more than 200 times without being bored, you'll always find something new (I listen to it every 2nd day since july last year and I still love it!)! So, if you like Dead Letters, In the shadows or any kind of rock, you'll have fun with this one!
