The Commuter's Dictionary

5.0 out of 5 stars very funny but very true., 24 Jan 2014
I have been reading this on my daily commute to work and it is indeed a antidote to all those very rude people you can sometimes meet. I have regularly found myself looking up a certain type of person and comparing the entry to the person in front of me. Although you do indeed learn a lot about other people its what you learn about yourself that is truly eye opening,I had no idea I was a daddy long legs, a very funny very original book that you will look at time and again. If you a commuter then this book is for you.

The Time Inspectors
The Time Inspectors
by Jay Stevens
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars A suspenceful read, 17 Jan 2014
This review is from: The Time Inspectors (Paperback)
This book is great fun, at 126 pages its a short read but packed with story and adventure. The Story concerns Sally stirling who works for war office special investigations, she's on the hunt for a missing school boy, who vanished mysteriously. teaming up with the headgirl Charley the duo uncover a tail of tifolds in time, german spies and people trapped in time.
The story moves along at a fast pace and is written clearly which will suit the younger readers but wont put of any older readers.
the book was a real page turner but theres room for a sequal as theres a number of things that look like they may lead onto further adventures, I would definatly by another. Soon please!

5.0 out of 5 stars hooray soundtracks are back!, 11 Sep 2012

I've waited 3years since the last soundtrack release, but it's been worth the wait as now Audio Go are now treating us to four in a row! first of is Horror of fang rock, in my opinion one of the last greats of the classic series. Listening on CD is a much more interesting experience and it's amazing how different it feels. Tom Bakers voice is perfect and the linking narration is great and really adds to the atmosphere. These CDs are great for listening to in the car or if like me you have a hectic life it,s great to be able to hear a REAL doctor who story from the classic era, without having to put a DVD on.
can't wait for the other releases in this range, lets hope Audio Go bring out some more titles in the 50th anniversary year.

1.0 out of 5 stars school reading books!, 3 May 2011
When I saw 4 new sarah jane books listed on amazon i was very excitied as I had enjoyed the previous novels and had been disapointed that no more had been written. Unfortunatly these books are school reading books for year 2 children and what text there is is very brief. also they are photo novels and only 24 pages long. Great for reading if your 7 which is what they are intended for but dont buy if your an adult! Come on bbc books give some more sarah jane novels soon like the original ones you published.

Man About the House - George and Mildred : The Definitive Companion]]

What a pleasant suprise to find that someone has finally written a book on these two amazing sitcoms which are so often over looked. The writer has a clear and easy style making the book great for dipping in or out of. If your a die hard fan then there is lots to enjoy here as much of the information is new, with some especially interesting snippets, including sections on movies as well as just the tv productions.
It's great to hear some views from behinds the scenes people and many of the biographys were very interesting including the background on the writers.
It was only a shame that this book has taken 30years to come to pass as many of the original actors have passed away or the one's that are still with us can't remember very much.
the only downside to this great book is that the last few chapters seem to degenerate into one list after another! although some are interesting by the time you get to the section listing transport which is followed by a quiz you begin to wonder if the writer was padding out space.

Also I was sad to see that Robins Nest was reduced to just a page and half and a brief list of episodes, this series whilst not being in the books remit was more derserving than this.

These minor gripes aside this is a fantastic book which will delight any fan of the series and I would recommend you pick up a copy straight away as you wont be disapointed. I look forward to reading any future books this young writer produces. GREAT BOOK!
