Bible Chronology The Two Great Divides
Bible Chronology The Two Great Divides
by J. A. Moorman
Edition: Paperback
Price: 16.00

4.0 out of 5 stars More thorough examination of the issues, 16 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As usual Dr Moorman presents a thorough, Biblical, objective examination of the issues at stake. The author is always fair (perhaps sometimes too fair to the writers whose arguments are presented and examined) and always mindful of taking the most God-honouring approach to the exposition of scripture and review of history. A valuable addition to the library of those who wish be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Further Up Pompei (1990s) to way back in 70s, 16 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
an interesting collection spanning 20 years and interesting to see how crude (and at times not very funny) his 1970s material sounds. The good news is that the titters in the 70s do rise up to deliver some good laughs by the 1980s and even Further Up Pompeii (which was funnier than I remembered watching it on ITV the first time, maybe I get more of the jokes now). For the price worth adding to your collection especially if you're a Frankie Howerd fan (if only to note the contrast over the decades).

5.0 out of 5 stars A straight-ish role for Frankie Howerd, 16 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A very clever film which I hadn't seen for 20 years. Clever because it works as a thriller whilst blending humour almost naturally and giving us an opportunity to see Frankie Howerd deliver some great character development without being merely a Frankie Howerd 'vehicle' for his stand up routine (appropriate because he is surrounded by some great actors in this piece). Well worth it, a must see film!

2.0 out of 5 stars larger holes, 16 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was bought as a replacement to my previous set of pinhole glasses and to be honest they don't work as well as the holes are nowhere near 'pinhole' size (and yes I know this isn't meant literally), much larger than usual and so the eye isn't forced to focus as much. Disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars ideal study in andragogy, 16 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having had a look through this book previously I was mystified to see a reviewer criticise this book for its holistic approach to training and adult learning. This is a fantastic resource and brings together all the research that I was aware of previously as well as some that I wasn't and relates well to my own experience of delivering learning and development material to adult audiences in learner-centred environments. A superb reference work and a great survey that highlights well the gulf between the narrow pedagogical style of learning delivery (which has overshadowed learning in the Western education system and still does in many areas) and the dynamic scope of andragogy in facilitating learning and development in maturer populations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, thorough and useable reference work, 29 Sep 2013
Dr Moorman presents the facts regarding different readings of the New Testament in an unbiased manner. The verses of the NT are presented in user-friendly tabulated form where the reader is able to comprare for himself whether the Nestle-Aland (Alexandrian) or Textus Receptus (Byzantine) Greek readings are historically known to have been used, quoted or referenced in early Church writings earlier than the other. This makes the work an essential excellent, thorough and useable reference work which quickly dispenses with the fallacy that the Alexandrian-type readings were older. The Byzantine text comes out as quoted about 75% of the time by the 'Early Church Fathers', lectionaries, etc. (consistent with the findings of other researchers such as Burgon, q.v.).

5.0 out of 5 stars Putting everything in perspective, 12 Feb 2012
This review is from: Science and the Bible (Paperback)
This is a fantastic, readable book I discovered after reading lots of secular evolution text books (which in themselves showed that the naturalistic theories of origins advanced as 'fact' were in fact full of holes) which offered a clear, concise overview of what fundamental erratic assumptions exist in evolutionary ideas, what plausible alternatives exist and that those alternatives actually are harmonious with the Bible.

Dr Morris's explanation of Salvation through part of this book was the first time anyone had related the Gospel to me in any way that made sense to me. I was convicted whilst reading this book and gave my life to Christ as a result; this book actually opened the Way to the Bible for me. 18 years later I've never regretted that committment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Audio track of Doctor Who the Enemy of the World, 24 Nov 2009
This was an excellent story and it was made more enjoyable to listen to as I was able to watch one of the episodes by getting out my copy of Dr Who Lost In Time on DVD and bridging the gap that way.
