5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 18 Oct 2014
This is a top game. Beautiful graphics that shine in high definition, one of my personal favourite video-game OSTs ever, and combat that is simple to learn but deeper than you might expect. Good use of the GamePad's unique features as well - using the controller to aim your grapple and putting the touchscreen map to use are very welcome additions. Overall a stunning game, and one of the best in the Zelda series for sure.

3.0 out of 5 stars Deja vu, 18 Oct 2014
If, like me, you've played all of the New Super Mario Bros games in the series thus far (DS, Wii and 3DS) then there honestly isn't much new here to see. It's definitely a well-crafted and fun game, but by now the "New" series really should be doing something different to hold my attention. Rayman Legends and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze are both far, far better platformers for the Wii U than this one; however, this is still a decent game in its own right, and probably amazing if you've yet to experience the "New" series.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's no Mario Kart, 13 Oct 2014
It's not a bad game, by any stretch of the imagination - it's just not a great one, either. The racing is adequate, but pales in comparison to Mario Kart 8. I found the controls a little iffy sometimes, and it lacks the polish of Nintendo's flagship racer. Visually it's a mixed bag as well. If you can get it cheap it's probably worth it, otherwise put your money towards Mario Kart, as it's an infinitely better product.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Rayman game ever?, 13 Oct 2014
Rayman Legends is an incredible game; most importantly, it simply makes you want to play it more. Dozens of unlockables, thrilling and hilarious "music" levels, and some of the best use of the GamePad thus seen on Wii U, it's a necessary game for the console. Even if you don't like platformers, give this a try - I guarantee you'll be converted.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Mario game ever?, 13 Oct 2014
This fantastic game is certainly up there with the best in the Mario series, period: it's constantly engaging, occasionally jaw-dropping, and filled with series throwbacks (the reinvigorated Secret Slide music on the Plessie levels is a particular highlight). Hours upon hours of content, as replaying each level with each character is a must to unlock everything. Simply put, this is Wii U's best game so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Poor title lets down a fantastic film, 12 Oct 2014
The less said about the title, the better - personally, I think it should have kept its original moniker, All You Need Is Kill, as they've had to rebrand it twice now. However, the movie itself is one of Cruise's very best: it's humorous, thoughtful, relentless, judiciously edited, and extremely well-produced. Definitely worth the purchase on Blu-Ray.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's just okay, 4 Oct 2014
This review is from: Prometheus (Amazon Instant Video)
Ridley Scott returns to the franchise that kick-started his career in Prometheus, a semi-prequel to the events of Alien. The film is visually stunning, particularly right at the beginning. Idris Elba and Michael Fassabender do great jobs in their roles; Noomi Rapace is alright, but her accent leaps all over the place. The plot was somewhat derivative, however, with an interesting concept undone slightly by unresolved threads. Nevertheless, it was a enjoyable two hours, probably worth the watch if you like the franchise - it's far inferior to Alien and Aliens, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as Arrested Development?, 10 Aug 2014
For me, this show rivals Arrested Development as my favourite sitcom every. The easy chemistry between the characters reminds me of the madcap antics of the Bluth family, and I found myself chuckling my way through this first season of the show. Great casting all round, each actor inhabits the role and makes it their own. Blink and you'll miss it pop culture references, a near barrage of jokes and witticisms, this is a near-perfect show.

1.0 out of 5 stars Diabollically Disappointing Dexter, 4 Aug 2014
An atrociously bad end to an already flagging series, Season 8 of Dexter is filled with laughably pointless sub-plots (Masuaka's daughter? Hello?), characters making unbearably stupid decisions, and an absolute total letdown of a villian. Seriously, I can't even remember the guy's name; it was a huge anticlimax, considering the caliber of baddies like the Ice Truck and Trinity killers. It's one of the worst seasons of television I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through. Please, just stop at season 7, you'll be saved the hugely unsatisfying conclusion, as the season finale is godawful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful, 2 Aug 2014
I thought the incredibly harsh reviews couldn't be right, and I thought this looked like a bit of harmless fun. Boy, was I wrong. I can see why this bombed; everyone in this film phones it in, especially Kevin Bacon; the script is nonsensical; the effects are garbage; the plot is so predictable. I admit there is some decent cinematography, for example the digital zooms, but even that gets old when it's used repeatedly. The action sequences are very sparse. Put simply this is not worth your time. If you want a mindless fun action film this is not it, I'm afraid.
