5.0 out of 5 stars Information From Manufacturer Regarding Quality, 16 July 2015
I am surprisingly pleased with this aloe vera juice. Nothing wrong with it as far as i can tell. It even has bits in it the way proper aloe juice should. This seems good quality to me.

Here is information i received from the manufacturer when i emailed them with some questions about their juice:

---

The Aloe Vera used in these products is organically grown and certified in Texas & Mexico. The plants are harvested and cut then washed and filleted by hand. Once extracted the inner gel juice and outer leaf juice are sealed in 200 litre or 100 litre specially designed doubled lined drums, ready for export to the UK.

At our processing site to prevent deterioration and protect against the spoilage, the finished juices undergo a pasteurisation process called High Temperature Short Time (HTST), often referred to as ‘flash pasteurisation’. This prevents bacterial contamination while preserving the biologically active components. Typical temperatures are 71.5 C to 85C. The maximum temperature reached during pasteurisation is for 21.5 seconds only, at a flow rate of 40 litres per minute. This is the minimum time required, and tests using this process have determined that it the does not diminish the bioactivity of the product.

Aloe Pura Aloe Vera Juices are not standardised products designed to provide a specified quantity of any one of the estimated 200 biologically actives in Aloe Vera. Therefore we do not provide such information on our labels. Typically, analysis on finished product has produced results of 2500 – 4000mg of MPs (MeOH Precipitable Solids) per litre of juice which can be dependent on seasonal changes. Please see further information below regarding MPS.

Aloe Vera Gel actually consists of 96% water, which provides a means of transporting the active components in the circulatory system. There is no one specific ingredient that provides the activity of Aloe. The combination of groups of components working together – in ‘synergy’ - is how Aloe achieves its healing power. The term synergism describes how this joint action of more than one agent creates an effect on the whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Many of the constituents of Aloe have been isolated, identified and studied; these include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, long un-branched polysaccharides, fatty acids, anthraquinones, saponins, salicylic acid, lignin and lectin-like substances. The polysaccharide group can be further broken down into several glucomannans, cellulose, starches and pectins etc. All polysaccharides are not the same and the presence of acemannan, which is a reserve (storage) polysaccharide, is often a cause of much of the compositional variations reported in the literature for Aloe Vera carbohydrates

The Aloe leaf is high in MPS which is often used as a measure of activity in finished Aloe products. It is important to note that Aloe Vera does not contain Mucopolysaccharides. Confusion has arisen between the term Mucinous Polysaccharides (characteristics of Aloe Vera) and Mucopolysaccharides which are nitrogen-containing polysaccharides found in animals and bacteria, and has been misused in the promotion of some Aloe Vera products.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cold Processed then Boiled!, 1 May 2015
I was very disappointed to find out that this aloe vera juice is boiled. So even though it may be cold pressed you are not really getting the benefits of cold processed juice as it has been pasteurised.

From the FAQ on the Pukka website:

Q - What maximum temperature is the Aloe Vera exposed to during processing?
A - The maximum temperature that it is exposed to is 95C

Water boils at 100C. So this is like putting the aloe vera in a kettle, letting it boil and cool, and then advertising it as cold processed! What a joke! They must think we are gullible idiots!

2.0 out of 5 stars Big Let Down - Common Screen Issue, 14 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The kindle voyage is a really great device. It is noticeably lighter and more comfortable to hold than the paperwhite 2. It looks like a premium device and the text is very clear. The pagepress buttons also work well, although as others have mentioned, it can be difficult to find these in the dark.

Unfortunately, the voyage is majorly let down by the screen which is supposed to be it's main selling feature. The top half of the screen is a different colour to the bottom. If you want to see what this looks like, have a look at this video review on amazon.com at time point 2.50

http://www.amazon.com/review/R3KVJS35XJVP8B/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00GDQDRPK&nodeID=370783011&store=fiona-hardware

The result of this is that the bottom half of the kindle voyage screen looks whiter than the top. So when you are reading you start with an orange/yellow color and then transition into white. This is particularly noticeable and distracting when reading in landscape mode.

Lots of people seem to have this issue. I have had it with 2 voyages, one of which was worse than the other. I spoke to the reviewer of the video posted above, and he seems to think that his screen is perfectly uniform and white. Although in the video his voyage looks exactly like the 2 voyages i returned.

I suppose this is something you can get used to, eventually. But for 170, and for supposedly the best and most premium ereader currently available, i find this two toned screen on the kindle voyage completely unacceptable. I would consider this a defect if my computer monitor looked a different color on the top and bottom of the screen, so why should i put up with it on an ereader where the screen is the most important part of the device? The whole purpose of the voyage is to go on a voyage. To get lost in a good book and have the device fade away from your awareness. But when you are constantly shifting from one color to another when reading, it is difficult to go on an enjoyable voyage with the voyage.

Be aware of this when ordering and be prepared to send back your voyage for a replacement. There is no need to pay for return postage if you request a replacement online and select the option for the device being faulty.

If you are thinking of getting the paperwhite 2 instead of the voyage, be aware that amazon has very poor quality control on the kindles. I ordered 10 paperwhite 2s and 8 of them had a nice white screen. The rest were a dull yellow colour. Based on my experience, around 80% of people ordering a paperwhite 2 will receive a substandard screen. If you do not have another kindle to compare with, you would never know just how bad your screen looked and just how good it can look.

Overall the voyage is a much better device than the paperwhite, but the screen really lets it down.

I would really appreciate for anyone who does have a kindle voyage with a uniform white screen, to please post a picture of it set at maximum brightness in the dark. This would be helpful in showing people what the voyage should look like. Thanks.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE - 17TH jAN 2015

Received 3rd voyage but still has top half yellowish colour with bottom half white.

Update 18th Jan 2015

Received 4th voyage. Still has same issue, but overall whiter than previous voyage so it doesn't look as yellow.

The vinegar is really great. It's cloudy and is superb value for money. The container is also very convenient as it has a little spout that you can use to pour into a smaller bottle. This is basically Braggs apple cider vinegar but at a much better price. Would definitely recommend, although took awhile to reach me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Serious Warning, 18 Jun. 2014

I add these cinnamon sticks to tea in an American style tea mug. Usually 2-3 sticks per cup provides good flavour, but this varies depending on the size of the stick, with larger sticks being more "juicy" in cinnamon flavour. The sticks are left in infusing in the cup until the tea is drunk.

I was aware that coumarin, a substance naturally found in cinnamon, has been linked to causing liver disease. But i didn't think this would be an issue as the pack I purchased from Amazon is Ceylon cinnamon. This type of cinnamon is reported to have the lowest coumarin level of all the different types of cinnamon, such as cassia cinnamon which is what's normally found in the supermarket.

Recently, for an unrelated reason, I had a blood test. All came back well (very good actually) except for higher than normal levels of a marker of liver damage. A sign of liver damage.

As i have been consuming these cinnamon sticks for 3-4 months with tea, perhaps 5-6 cups a day, i wonder if my liver damage could be related to the cinnamon? Considering the existing link between the two. Since using the cinnamon, i also noticed by eyesight getting worse and i sometimes get eye floaters. This seems to resolves itself, however, after not consuming any cinnamon for a few days.

I have a few more cinnamon sticks left from my 1kg bag, and i do want to finish them because they go very nicely with tea. A nice sweet flavour. But after this bag, i'm not going to consume any more cinnamon to give myself a break.

It is June 2014 and i should be having another blood test in about 3-4 months. If i remember, i will update this post with the results of my test to see whether stopping cinnamon helped my liver.

Fortunately, the damage was caught early as the liver damage marker was only slightly over the tolerable limit, and i have no obvious symptoms except those mentioned. If cinnamon is the cause of my liver damage, it's worrying to think of what could have happened if i had not had the blood test and continued adding cinnamon to tea.

Had previously used a seagate momentus xt hybrid drive and that was impressive in the difference it made to my aging system. Decided to try out a pure ssd and the difference is even more amazing, much better than having a hybrid drive. Completely blown away by performance of this drive. I also purchased a hdd caddy from amazon which i used to replace my dvd drive with. Now i have os and programs running on the ssd, and the old hybrid drive for downloads. Definitely recommend getting ssd, makes it feel like a whole new machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Excellent!!!, 17 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Extremely pleased with this product. I replaced my dvd drive in my laptop with this caddy containing a regular hard drive to be used exclusively for downloading as i noticed downloading to my main drive slowed down the responsiveness of my system.

Very easy to install, hardest part was unscrewing the screws from the bottom of my laptop to remove my dvd drive. You can even place the dvd drive covering over the caddy so it looks like your drive is still in the laptop, and it even has an activity light that flickers when the disk is being accessed.

No problems at all. Recommended.

I bought this on the basis of the previous 5 star review. It was fitted along with a new underlay and carpet, but i have not noticed a reduction in noise. I can still hear bass and voices, so overall i am disappointed in purchase.

This book talks very briefly about what worked for the author - minoxidil, fin/dut and a hair transplant. Very little detail is given except what the author did and i finished the book in around 10 minutes. Not worth the money and was basically completely useless to me. Also contained grammatical errors, despite there being such a small amount of pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value & quality, 16 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After using this monitor for several months here are my thoughts:

Overall, this is an excellent monitor. Quality of image is very good, blacks are reasonable and price is great.

Originally, i purchased the BenQ EW2730V, because it's meant to have a better quality panel, but it suffered from noticeable ghosting when browsing the internet and when watching movies. Shame, as it was a very nice monitor and i really wanted it, but the ghosting was just far too much.

Then i purchased the ASUS VE278Q, which had good colors, and good presets, but it made a very annoying buzzing/humming noise which, in my quiet room, was very off-putting.

So i got the BenQ GL2750 as my last hope of getting a 27 inch monitor i would be happy with. Thankfully, this turned out to be a very good monitor. It's completely silent, looks good and is a great size. There are a few things i don't like about it, however:

1) It takes about 6 secs for the monitor to switch on. So if you have your monitor set to switch off after computer being idle, it takes a while for the monitor to switch back on again. This is annoying.

2) The presets are garbage. Unlike the Asus which had excellent presets, the only two useful presets on the benq are standard and sRGB. I actually had it on sRGB for ages and the blacks during movies were very light, it wasn't until it switched it back to standard that the black level improved. The rest of the presets are not useful at all.

3) Other features such as senseye are worthless, don't even know what it does, and AMA, which supposedly gives you the 2ms response time, produces reverse ghosting when you move your mouse cursor. So that is off. Which i assume leaves me with a 5ms monitor, not that i care as i don't notice any difference anyway.

4) The touch menu is fiddly, although ok once you get used to it. Wish they did software versions of this.

Overall, very pleased with the monitor. I use it mainly for work and movies, and it's perfect for this. If you are thinking of getting a 27 inch, go for it, the extra size is great if you often work with documents.

Despite its flaws, for the price has to be 5/5
