Disney Infinity Starter Pack (Nintendo Wii)
Disney Infinity Starter Pack (Nintendo Wii)
Price: £29.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than skylanders..., 12 April 2015
Excellent game with plenty of options for kids.
Better than skylanders in my opinion, more freedom to play and not as 'on rails' as skylanders. through the 'toy box' facility allowing you to create your own worlds from disney landscapes, charactures and compoinents.

Trim cars complete with daft punk music, Aladdin guards, Alice in wonderland charactures... It's all here.

Play pieces are required to play actual characture oriented 'worlds'. This pack comes with 1 for all three charactures supplied. You'll need another characture if the same film to play two player in these play piece worlds.

Keeps my 7 and 4 year old in their element. They love it. Got about 12 figures and moving to 2.0 shortly, they've made this beyond value for money beyond doubt their favourite thing ever probably!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent game, with slight issues over its fighting system., 24 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Never played an arkham before, so I guess I can just this on it's own merits, acknowledging that others have played arkhams that they say are superior.

I will be chasing those games up now. Enjoyed this immensely. Graphics and sound superb , leveling up system makes sense and maps are fun to get around.

Put this for an hours play and three hours later- hooked. Still not scratched the surface but I'm not the best. Seems to have play value ok.

The only thing I found annoying is the almost automated battle sequences that are button bashing affairs with some cool cut scene style finishing moves. It's a shame because it makes up a vast amount of gameplay.

Took to stalking enemies from above, using batrang attacks and moving in and out rather than 'head on' into a group which seems easy.

Hope they correct the fighting in the forthcoming one, more freedom and interaction would be good.

2014 Adidas Tour Golf Cap
2014 Adidas Tour Golf Cap
Price: £10.99 - £14.97

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional cap for money., 20 Jan. 2015
This review is from: 2014 Adidas Tour Golf Cap (Misc.)
Bought this in small size, red. Seems well sized and the quality itself is exceptional. The mesh around the back is tight knit and doesn't look like mesh from a distance, but will keep you cool.

Taylormade and adizero logos to the sides, all raised and seen in great quality.

Had a few £10 golf caps but this is far the best.

Note it's non adjustable so check sizing.

Wahl 9916-1117 Groomsman Rechargeable Hair, Beard, Moustache Trimmer Set

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent for the money and plenty of adjustment options., 19 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this tinkering with abit of 'growth' want to balance a beard/stubble and needed to manage it without commiting to a major outlay, in case the look wasn't for me. WAHL being a recognised brand at £13 quid seem to tick the boxes for me.

When it arrived, 2 days later at standard delivery, after a couple of uses I'm happy with it.

Pros
+ price, a lot of reviews say this performs as well as £30+ trimmers, seems like it to me.
+ nice look, light weight to hold.
+ plenty of adjustable heads, to meet different beard lengths, from short close stubble to 12mm.
+ seems to have plenty of charge, haven't needed to put it on again yet (did an overnight 1st charge as reccomended).
+ uk style plug charger houses the two pin euro, so no need for any converters to charge, anywhere.

Cons

- mounting base and it's fitting/head holding features is barely fit for use. Got rid of that instantly.
- it looks chrome metal, for the money you obviously don't get that, so you have cheap chrome style plastic (lightweight at least). Styled like it should feel weighty like proper chrome bodied trimmers.
- heads and attachments feel like if pressed or clipped on the wrong way, they would break easily. Plastic on these could be better.

Price: £9.88

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple pad, works ok - not for every player and game tho', 19 Jan. 2015
Decent replacement controller, got this when our 2nd one died and it's better than that (Argos 3rd party one) and didn't want to shell out on an official. The kids just wanted to use it for disney infinity messing about so thought give this a try.

Prob not the best for FIFA/games requiring trigger pressure (Gran turismo) as the buttons don't seem that responsive, but as the pad has just arrived they'll hopefully loosen off.

Pros
+ decent price (half cost of official)
+ no USB dongle required (links by using supplied cable on first use) like some.
+ nice size feel and weight
+ comes with charge cable, some don't (Can't link without it tho', so they all should have them)

Cons

- all buttons are a little unresponsive but not sure if this will improve when they loosen off.
- buttons not pressure sensitive.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very decent easy to work machine for the money., 4 Jan. 2015
Writing this a bit prematurely, only an hour ago I was checking reviews myself whilst stood in a supermarket deciding if to buy this at £20.

Had a few of these type of things in past. Largely disappointed in way they deal with grapes and skinned fruit, leaving a 'bitty tooth annoying' juice.

Not the case with this. Kids wanted a 6 fruit smoothie on first use (inc the dreaded skinned grape) with a dash of fruit juice to water the whole thing out.

Results, two happy kids who now want smoothies all the time, a smooth drink and myself planning to bottle up my 5 fruit drink for healthy daily 2015 consumption.

Pros- price, ease of use and end results all decent.

Cons- 300w motor probably isn't the strongest (£90 nutri ninja has 1000w) but good for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Decent with only a few minor issues., 4 Jan. 2015
Writing this review a little prematurely, have only used this for a few weeks now. Does an excellent job on making smoothies and seems to get the skin bits of the fruit shredded to a decent drinkable level.

No issues as of yet, good machine for the money does a good job. Little underpowered at 300w if you're wanting to cut through ice all the time, it can do it - just laboured slightly.

On minor blip is that after a minute or so of the machine being on, you can smell the engine heating to an oily scent.

Decent smoothie maker though, had other and this wins hands down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pricey, well thought out and made retro toy., 7 Nov. 2014
Decent little simple gadget, but can be pricey considering you're buying a cardboard box and glass lens.

It's a very well designed cardboard box and looks the part, retro themed around the simple concept.

Takes around 20mins, faster if you're confident enough to use superglue straight away, to put together. Simple as it comes to assemble-you won't get this wrong a kid could do it.

A kid it's good for though once made. Don't consider this anything but a gimmicky toy. Solving your viewing problems in HD this does not. It's not a huge projection and you'll have to have a pitch black room and plain bright surface to get best results once built.

Screen to bright, phone orientation flipped upside down you'll still find the lack of horizontal invert frustrating, if using iphone, during text on videos.

My kids just used this to watch ice age 4 in my bedroom, they thought the idea was good, cinema esque. They wanted popcorn and to watch for longer. That's when I got the concept of this - a gimmick, pleasure giving, 'let's play cinema' play item. And decent job it does of that.

Good for half an hour of messing about with once in a while. Any longer, or trying to watch seriously this will frustrate.

It's a fantastically simple, well crafted box, a throw back to when cameras were non digital, flickbooks were entertainment and things were simple to use.

+ well build, nice to look at retro feel. Simple to assemble and just about scrapes over the line for actual functionality.

- frustrating to get pictures sharp, image dim even when phone set to bright, image inverts horizontally with no app giving obvious fix, phone can fall down from 'sticky' back holding panel (material elastic would have been a better solution).

Not a viewing alternative to Apple TV etc.,, but a fun toy. A fantastic gift, though pricey at current money given what you'll actually end up holding is a solid enough sliding cardboard box. That you stuck together.

Skylanders Swap Force - Starter Pack (Nintendo Wii)
Skylanders Swap Force - Starter Pack (Nintendo Wii)
Offered by GAMES CONSOLES BARGAIN
Price: £16.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Kids love this, I do too! Great concept., 20 July 2014
My 6 year old loves it, compatible with all figured from previous versions. Figures get new powers keeping you interested and level and charactures are quirky. Good the way my boys play with the little models away from the game itself.

This has took gaming to a different level, not surprised it's won so many awards. I enjoyed playing this alongside him and earning upgrades amongst the hours of play.

The whole kit cost £20 but you'll get sucked into buying more. There's value in it tho' the swap force is a good concept, giving extend play, but look out for old spiros adventures charactures that you can pick up for next to nothing.

Great game, look out for the new version shortly. Which I think we'll be buying.

3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for... A dated conversion., 20 July 2014
You get what you pay for... A dated conversion. I bought this for £2 new (July '14) and I know it's been out for ages, and slated meantime. For that money I could use it as a coaster and not feel I was hard done by, so well - I'm a fan, give it a go.

Have to say for £40 on release this would have been given 1 star. It is quite tense at times if you switch between motion detector, but soon turns into a guns out blast which was rarely seen in the films.

It's going to be hard to make a game to do this all justice and to keep the average shooter player engaged.

On release this was running a dated graphic engine, and dated motion capture and COD controls, so it was already on the back foot. I found it tricky enough on soldier setting - mostly because of the way the weapons reload and aim , stilted at best. Aliens should be a menace and to not stick around to get shot up.

All in all, for the money you spend now - this is ok. Just ok and doesn't do the license proper justice. But I don't think a game will - not like the films. At the end of the day it's a shooter, a realistic game would have you fighting just to survive you being the prey. Give it a go, but be prepared to get bored fairly quickly.
