5.0 out of 5 stars maybe its is!!, 28 May 2012
For once a product does what it says. I have the worst eyelashes ever and have tried many a different mascara in the search for long lustrous eyelashes; this mascara gives me the longest thickest eyelashes ive ever had from a mascara. Even reapplying it is a delight, it goes on flawlessly without clumping. Normally i wouldnt spend this amount on a mascara but in this case i definately would buy again..........ive found my favorite mascara at long last yay!!! For once the taglines true................maybe shes born with it (no) maybe its maybelline (yes it is!)

4.0 out of 5 stars based on a true story..................., 9 Jan. 2012
This review is from: The Clearing [DVD] (DVD)
If your looking for an intelligent, fantastically well acted drama then this film is it. Based on a real life story the film dosent rely on car chases, shoot outs or sex scenes but instead gives us realism and a window into what is happening to the people involved.
All three leads give perfect performances although it is Mirren who is the stand out.........showing a character with strength, vulnerability, elegance and dignity. It is refreshing to see a woman in her 60s who is naturally beautiful and mesmerising and who totally keeps us captivated and engrossed in this story.
Its not a film id watch over and over, but i would definately recomend it and i am glad i watched it.......if only for the performances of the three leads.

2.0 out of 5 stars i hate it when a plan DOSENT come together, 30 Jun. 2011
This review is from: The A-Team [DVD] (DVD)
Dont listen to all the glowing reviews. I listened to my teenaged dughter who saw it 3 times at the cinema............and its the last time i do. Ok i admit im old enough to have reguarly watched (and loved) the original A Team but i was expecting to take my brain out and still enjoy a good old fun romp in an updated manner.
It was AWFUL. Ok it had its moments (and i mean moments........albeit very brief ones.) The main cast dribbled along with only the guy who played Mad DOg Murdoch (he was in District 9) exerting any acting ability. The bad guys were a bad way. I thought Jessica Biel (whose usually quite watchable) might add a bit of umph to proceedings but even she cruised along with a flat character that really didnt have much to do at all.
To be fair the script was AWFUL and the story inane and predictably dull. If your not expecting miracles check it out (but if your after action the i recomend The Expendables instead).......for those who love the A Team if you really must then watch at your own risk. Its not THAT bad, but even the iconic line when it finally came was a let down. A bit like the film unfortunately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dont worry you can release the caught animal easily., 4 Jun. 2011
Having had a problem with mice pooing everywhere and eating the carpet and wiring we were at our wits end as the snap traps hadnt caught one. We used these glue traps and caught two half an hour later. Using veg oil we slid the mice easily off outside. Still both alive and still eating the peanut butter we had put in the middle. Fantastic!

The film i watched was an uplifting, hopeful, heart wrenching story about a man who had been imprisoned for most of his life and his hopes to unite the country he loved. It was an inspiring, wonderful film with the most beautiful, poignant poem read soulfully by the amazing Morgan Freeman. Watch it and feel inspired and uplifted; this is a film that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled.

2.0 out of 5 stars one good bit does not a good film make, 24 Feb. 2011

ok lets get one thing straight. I LOVE the a HUGE fan of the first film, the other 2 were so so and had their moments, and i was REALLY looking forward to seeng this one. Only to be very disappointed. Bad points.........slow mo action scenes which really dragged, i never thought id ever get bored whilst watching an action scene but boy i was wrong; some of the characters....wesker was a bit too wimpy for my liking, and clare, for me this character was really miscast, the script; the lack of proper storyline......
Good points, the zombies, including the resi evil 5 baddies (what a shame they left out leon!!), the fight at the end with wesker and chris (seriously awesome),thank god they got chris right; oh and the trailer for resident evil damnation which seriously looks the biz!
But as the film is obviously set for ANOTHER film with jill at the end (another miscasting) all umbrellerised i just hope that thing improve somewhat.

5.0 out of 5 stars great little stroller, 24 Feb. 2011
This survived a days rattle across Liverpool over cobbles and pavements and was easy to steer, lift, manage. It was easy to put up and down while travelling by train, and was lightweight, easy to use and comfy for our 18 month year old. The only negs were lack of rain covering (yes it rained!), and when she fell asleep we couldnt recline the chair (its fixed) so she slept with her head forward which wasnt comfy.
But as standby for a day out or for grandparents its great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definately the best and strongest of the three!!, 13 Feb. 2011
Well written, well directed, well acted, amazing action sequences, a tragic love story and amzing cgi!!! For those who love vampire/werewolf movies then this will satisfy your hunger. It really is the best of the underworld be honest Rhona Mitre completely outshone kate beckinsdale and michael sheen cannot put a foot wrong. Bill nighy was excellent and the supporting cast was also superb. Watch it and then watch it again.....i guarantee that by the second watch it will have become your fav vampire/werewolf film too.

Muhammad: Prophet for Our Time
Muhammad: Prophet for Our Time
by Karen Armstrong
Edition: Paperback

1.0 out of 5 stars strong in places but completely inaccurate in others., 13 Feb. 2011
Having read and thoroughly enjoyed Karen Armstrongs 'A history of God' i was really looking forward to reading her book on the prophet. Unfortunately it left me feeling very disappointed. Like many western writers Karen Armstrong only seems to have used the Sunni sources for her story, leaving out the shia sources and as such has most of the story facturally incorrect and only seen from one side. Aisha for instance was neither the prophets favourite wife nor was she a child when they married..........research has shown she was at least around 18. She also says that one fo the prophets wives , maymunna, was his uncles sister which would have made her his aunt, she was in fact the SISTER OF HIS WIFE and no blood relation to the prophet at all..........Also the prophet never sent any raids on the caravans, this was propaganda at the time and still today the real story is not told. I could go on with the inaccuracies but i would end up writing a book myself. These inaccuracies do not do anyone any favours and paint an inaccurate depictation of the prophet and islam.
I would recomend reading Lesley Hazletons much better researched book 'After the Prophet: The Epic Story of the Shia-Sunni Split in Islam' as this covers more or less the same material but in a much more thoroughly researched neutral way. I also felt that Armstong made it sound like the prophets divine revelations came along at rather convinient times. She did however show how the prophet changed his society and the sacrifices and dangers he faced, and one of the strengths of the book is how it explains the tribes and how their society was changing with the influence of the prophet.
