5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect pocket knife, 17 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Simple, tough, good looking, high quality. I have removed the clip to make it flatter and now it sits in my pocket, unnoticed, the flattest knife I have ever had. Edge retention is great and it is easy to clean. More importantly, for the price I am not afraid of using it. The reason the price is so low is because this brand are trying to go global, with high quality, low price as their business strategy. I have bought 3 models already, this one is the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive little knife, it is now part of my EDC, 8 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Impressive little knife, it is now part of my EDC. It is so light and small that I simply carry it in my pocket and I don't notice it is there until I need it. Its construction is of very high quality, with a good steel (12C27) which is strong, corrosion resistant, holding a good sharp-as-a-razor edge for a long time and easy to sharpen (Note: easy to sharpen does not mean easy to loose its edge, it means that somebody with very little sharpening skills can sharpen this knife).

The design is fantastic, with a good grip and good ergonomics that enable you to apply your whole body weight onto the blade on heavy duty cutting tasks (leather, wood, rope, plastic). The blade can take a great deal of abuse given its width to length ratio, shape and supreme steel quality. I use it for preparing food, peeling fruits and vegetables, chopping tomatoes and greens, cutting meat, also for miscellaneous tasks such as cutting climbing rope, opening envelopes and cardboard boxes, spreading peanut butter on bread, sharpening pencils, opening tins, producing wood shavings to make a fire when camping... all sorts of use and abuse. Its small size does not hinder in any way its extremely useful functionality.

Questions that I had before buying:

Is the price too expensive?, absolutely not, it is a fair price for the quality and functionality you get in return. This knife will become your favorite and will impress anybody if you choose to give it away as a present.
Being made in China, does it mean its quality suffers?, absolutely not, the production process and quality control is German-approved, its got Boker's exceptional standards backing them and a limited life time warranty.
Who is this knife for?, tool lovers, people who want to carry a reliable, good looking, well designed, compact, simple tool.

Conclusion: Get one. Stone-age men used to carry a small sharpened flint which they used through the day for various purposes... this tool is the modern day equivalent, in a discreet, comfortable package.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential book for hard core developers, 10 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I came across the concept of a Monad whilst I was learning Scala and I bought this book with the sole purpose of getting a thorough understanding of the concept. Success.

Haskell is difficult, its concepts are, as you would expect from a language that has been designed by a committee whose sole purpose was to create the ultimate programming language, as close to the world of math as it gets and unconstrained by engineering considerations such as the size of a bus or the width of a processor pipeline. This makes this language a true weapon for problem churning, but it also makes it exceptionally hard to get, specially in what regards to its type system. This book does an amazing job at getting you from zero to being able to code serious things progressively and almost easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic in the making, 10 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this book out of curiosity for the functional paradigm. I come from the world of Java and I find it tremendously valuable to invest some good time trying out other languages, paradigms and philosophies. That is why I had a look at Clojure, to realise that if I ever wanted to be a true functional developer I had to go to the root and learn LISP first. The gains of having an understanding of this programming language are obvious as it takes you out of your comfort zone and gently forces you to re-discover solutions to problems you have been faced with before but from an entirely new angle. The insight that comes from that makes you that much better in your comfort zone.

The book itself is one of the best books in my very extensive own personal library. It is a jewel of originality, well structured, with an accessible enough language for the new comer but not so accessible that the experienced programmer would get bored, with brilliant examples and great insight into the world of computer science and software development.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish difficult to read watch, 1 Nov. 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I purchased this watch because of its looks. Being a computer geek it's very important to feature weird looking gizmos. This watch looks like a communication device from a more advanced extraterrestrial civilization. On top of that the watch is very difficult to read so you loose awareness of time. This feature is compensated by a vibrating alarm which brings you back into reality with a gentle shake.

Buy it, you will love it.
