The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike)
Price: £3.49

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable page turner, 2 Aug 2013

I'm not sure I would have purchased this book if I had not known the name of the true author. However, I enjoyed reading this first detective novel and I'm sure that others will find this good light holiday reading.

XL Vacuum storage bags (100x70cm) - 6 Pack
XL Vacuum storage bags (100x70cm) - 6 Pack
Offered by Home Storage World
Price: £11.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for clothing storage, 26 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The bags work well for clothing storage. Be careful not to lose the cap over the valve as it comes off quite easily. I also wanted to store some books to prevent mildew and the bags functioned OK for this purpose but it would have been better if the plastic was a bit thicker. The zip seals at the ends of the bags can require a bit of effort to seal shut but not enough to put anyone off using the product.

The Geneva Trap: A Liz Carlyle novel (Liz Carlyle 7)
The Geneva Trap: A Liz Carlyle novel (Liz Carlyle 7)
by Stella Rimington
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars A good holiday page turner, 13 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Another Liz Carlyle Novel with Stella Rimington's blend of authenticity and personal drama. I found some elements of the plot a little far fetched, I doubt an SVR man on overseas assignment would murder quite so readily when non lethal methods of achieving the same ends are available but perhaps that's part and parcel of a spy novel!

Overall I found the story enthralling and I completed the book in 2-3 days because I wanted to get to the end of the story. Entertaining.

Ashenden, or, The British Agent
Ashenden, or, The British Agent
by William Somerset Maugham
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.19

4.0 out of 5 stars Classical Maugham characters though not his best work, 5 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Maughan was a keen observer of human beings and their foibles. His skills are on display in this novel based on his experiences as a British secret agent in WW1.

Maugham's unhappy married life is reflected in his British Ambassador character Sir Herbert Witherspoon's perhaps overly long after dinner tale.

Overall I found this to be an enjoyable read though I'd recommend newcomers to get to know Maugham by reading his better known books first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent ground level perspective of the Afghan conflict, 25 April 2011
This review is from: Restrepo [DVD] (DVD)
One of the best War documentaries ever made. The film records the activities of a group of soldiers in combat. The directors record the reactions and actions of the soldiers honestly and directly. Strongly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good soldier's eye view of combat operations over the past 30 years, 14 Dec 2010
Mick Flynn represents the backbone of any professional army, the senior NCO. His first hand account of operations from Northern Ireland and the Falklands to Iraq is authentic and entertaining. Strongly recommended for anyone who wants to know what the British Army is really all about.

Tweezerman Supersoft Nail File

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, 14 Sep 2010
Nail file arrived promptly and as described. I don't like the plastic handle all that much but at this price point that's what you should expect. Happy with the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent material well presented, 8 Aug 2010
A excellent BBC production. The scientists explain the significance of the fossil and their investigations in their own words. Little in the way of irritating poor quality reconstructions and more factual content. I wish more BBC documentaries were produced this way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent material well presented, 28 May 2010
What a refreshing change to have a knowledgeable presenter recount and interpret the facts as supported by documentary evidence rather than rely on ham fisted re-enactments as is the case with too many historical documentaries.

David Starkey is on top of his game and presents a revealing story of the development of the British monarchy.
