This is one book that I really enjoyed reading. It's original, witty and humorous, and its uncomplicated diction renders it easily entertaining. As somebody who has travelled extensively in Brasil, I must admit that I concur with most of the author's observations on the country.
It would be a mistake to consider the book as being merely a treatise on Brazilian football, both past and present, which it does excellently, as it is also a reflection on Brazilian culture and traditions and, of course, its (colourful) people. FUTEBOL manages to convey those sensations that make Brasil such a loved destination.
