3.0 out of 5 stars I bought it for the missus to replace the excellent TZ7 which we both have and love, 12 Oct 2014
I bought the Lumix DMC-TZ60EG-S (The gunmetal and black) as it looks really classy. I bought it for the missus to replace the excellent TZ7 which we both have and love. The TZ60 is quite a different beast to the old 7 and I bought it mainly for the RAW image option and the viewfinder. The missus has used it reluctantly a couple of times but prefers her old TZ7 as it has a leather case and strap and is easier to use. This is valid as there is no leather camera case (at a reasonable cost) for the 60.

So now I have it!

To get the best out of it you need to spend some hours with the manual customizing it to work the way you want, otherwise the myriad options work against you. I like to work in manual. I find the focusing frustrating. It can be fast, but often it struggles and its macro is very limited.

The bluetooth remote is limited but useful. Range is poor at 5m.

Image quality is pretty good at normal enlargement sizes up to A4 maybe A3, but it is not especially outstanding. As an auto snapper with a good zoom range it is outstanding and I keep it in my pocket most of the time and thereby lies the rub; the truly dreadful build quality. After only a few months it looks worse than my 6 year old TZ7, with the 'soft' textured coating wearing off at the corners making it look far from the classy machine it was back in May.

I use it to back up my superb Ricoh GXR, which is in a different league quality wise but has limited lens range. My Nikons sit at home most of the time, being used only when lugging their weight and bulk is justified by their purpose.

Video is pretty yuk with lots of panning blur. Its ok for slow moving stuff, but forget any action sequences.

This is one camera which could really do with a firmware update (mine is V1.0), but Lumix hide their firmware behind the US model No which is the ZS30. The v1.3 was not recognised on my camera.

Come on Panasonic! You used to be so good. You are going the way of Sony and Samsung, i.e. you forget your customers at your peril. We fans are prepared to pay extra for quality and this isnt it.

I was so impressed by the speedy service, ease of order and make up for the logo and the quality when it arrived (surprisingly quickly). Thank you so much Stampy!

Great piece of kit if you've short valve stems in deep rims. Would've given 5 stars but it is pricey for what it is.

Excellent value and appear to be well made. They collapse into an neat bundle ready for use. Not really good enough for when Royalty visits (they are always dropping in)

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart and practical, 11 Aug 2014
Worn to work and hiking in heat. Being dark coloured it does show the sweat stains a bit. However beautifully light and comfortable in use, but needs a good iron after washing (to be expected). Went for a size up and is a loose, comfortable fit. Zip pocket is great for money. Good value.

Lightweight, looks good and great for hiking. Sure it doesnt come out of the wash pre-pressed, but it is cotton so it will need ironing if you are that bothered. Cant fault it for the money. I normally take a large but the XL was a better fit (it is baggy, but lovely and cool)

Most earplugs are too uncomfortable for prolonged use or use at night, so it was with great joy that I discovered Hearos (thanks to all the reviewers before me). They are supremely comfortable and extremely effective. What more is there to say!

3.0 out of 5 stars Far from perfect, 25 July 2014
It is a neat little package and in the main works well, but it has some issues. The biggest issue is that as usual in the UK we are being ripped off by the manufacturer by getting half the onboard storage that everyone else gets. Thanks Arse-us, thanks a lot. This means VERY limited room for Windows 8 Apps which in some ways is a blessing as most are pretty poor. I have installed Kingsoft PC Doctor (free) and have to run it daily to prevent hangups and manage space.

Second problem is its power management. Yes it will do a fair 10 hr stint, but if you put it to sleep it will be flat a day later and if you just close the screen, sometimes it sleeps and sometimes it doesnt. This would not be a problem if all you did was plug it in to a mains supply and hey presto, but it will not switch on for at least an hours worth of charging from the Asus charger.

And it will be from the Asus charger as nothing else will charge it short of a fusion reactor!

The mouse click on the track pad is horrible and cheap but is functional

However the screen is great and the keyboard useable. I use a bluetooth keyboard for major input as the track pad no longer disables. A Harmon bluetooth mouse is a great addition.

Some good dodges are:
Use google and turn it into a chromebook with all your Apps online. This takes some of the load off the crappy storage and if you want to turn it into an Android device, install Bluestacks, it works well and the tiny Apps will have less storage impact and they are better than W8 ones.

Overall happy with it, but it takes too much management to give it 5 stars.

Liftmaster 12V Impact Wrench Digital Display with Torque Configuration
Liftmaster 12V Impact Wrench Digital Display with Torque Configuration

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite surprisingly good, 24 July 2014
I was hugely dubious about this, but what a piece of kit. It looks and feels cheap but by Jove it packs a wallop! Shifts just about anything. The action is most disconcerting as it is loud and viscous. Just be careful how you use it as will exceed anything you can do with a lug wrench and the numbers are difficult to see in the sun. And yes it will remove locking wheel nuts if you have lost the lock nut!
