Cons - Slightly less wool but I don't mind.

This review is from: Hornet Board Game (Toy)
This is a great game - it's original and well thought out. The makers are Finnish (quality is therefore excellent - I'm glad the game has wooden pieces and thick boards instead of cheap, unsustainable plastic bits that just pollute the planet if they get lost). As with other games of this sort, try not to lose the board pieces so don't play this game with misbehaving kids who throw things around! The instructions are provided in many languages.

Each player in this game controls a hornet colony - you have options to choose to fly to new territory, invest your time in making honey, or collecting nectar - actions you can do in a passive, safe way (low risk, low returns) or aggressively, which may involve stealing honey, removing another's hive etc (higher risk, larger returns). Your action might be profitable or it might be penalized depending on how others choose to play - a bit like life! The playing is not individual turn based - everyone chooses what they want to do by choosing a card and you all show your cards at the same time - which is always hotly anticipated by all playing! The fun lies in figuring out how others will play (which usually depends on their situation on the board, unless they're predictable), choosing how to act and reassessing your situation after every turn. The winner is determined at the end of the game and depends on who has most hives or honey.

Once you've figured out the rules (there is a little bit of a learning curve) this game is a lot of fun. I think £16.99 is also a great price as the game was way more expensive in the game shop in Helsinki.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book full of eye-opening insights, 9 Aug 2012

Ignore the superficial (and sometimes inaccurate) articles written in the national press about Karezza. I must point out that karezza is NOT tantric sex and it is NOT about avoiding intercourse. You can find bettter information on the author's site or better yet, read this book. I write this review having read the book a few months ago and I can confidently say that Marnia Robinson changed my husband's and my own focus from conventional orgasm-driven sex to bonding behaviours (including lovemaking).

Read this book if you want to know:

- Why sex never seems to solve relationship problems, even though it might be mindblowing.
- What orgasm, in particular, does to the neurochemistry of your brain. How porn, masturbation and feelings of love/closeness are tied in to this.
- Why the various practices that are similar to karezza are also different in important ways, e.g. tantric sex etc.
- Karezza is independent of how much or how less you want sex so it works even though one of you in the relationship wants sex more than the other. Indeed, those who tend to not want it are greatly relieved by this approach and usually want to be closer as a result!
- How the concept of karezza may actually be thousands of years old.
- How the neurochemistry and 'craving' behind seeking sex ties in with other activities that might be addictive.
- About the tug-of-war in the brain between the need for evolutionary driven sex (the goals of which are orgasm and as many offspring as possible) and the need for bonding behaviours (with/without intercourse) which promotes wellbeing and happiness in relationships.

I can also now understand why 'sex sells' in advertising and how advertising exploits the same neurochemical pathways in all of us.

Robinson intersperses science with history so the book never becomes tedious. The science is explained in a very readable way with helpful diagrams and I also found the "wisdom of the ages" mini chapters extremely interesting. Personally, I would love if she wrote more about the history/wisdom in a future book.

I must admit, she only gets to the method towards the end of the book and even halfway through I was getting impatient to know 'how to do' karezza. However, having read the whole book I can understand why she does this.

If you're unsure about buying this book, go to her website, which is what I did previously. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! This phone is a pleasure to use., 28 May 2012
I've used the N9 for about 6 months now and my impression of it is positive. I love the maps and use it everywhere now (3 countries so far) - it's very handy when you're lost, you don't need a data connection or wireless as it uses the inbuilt GPS. The phone quality and build is excellent, it feels sturdy and I've yet to even scratch the screen. I love the skype integration (no videocalls on skype yet, sadly, just voice calls). I've tested the Drive navigation app in a friend's car and it worked in the UK.

I only use the Swype onscreen keyboard now that I've discovered it and when I show it to my friends who have other phones (iphones etc) they're quite impressed by it. I am one of those people who cannot stand to use the predictive texting on phones and can't get the hang of it so swype keyboard is now a must for me. I never thought I'd like a phone without a full, physical QWERTY keyboard but this onscreen QWERTY swype is amazing.

The camera and video recording is quite good and as for playing videos I downloaded the free OVP app from the store which lets me play videos in the background (unlike the standard player on the N9).

Compared to the iphone this feels so much nicer to use and the interface is more intuitive. Although Nokia have dropped the Maemo platform I find new apps are still being made by enthusiasts and large software companies, though I'm still waiting for the Angry Birds Space version.

Cons: The N9 doesn't have the diversity of apps like the other mobile platforms but it has all you would look for in a smartphone and they're easily downloadable from the phone for free in the Nokia store (over the wireless).

Pro: the innovative Swype onscreen keyboard, intuitive interface, sturdy build and nice looking phone. Nokia Maps. Operating system based on open source software.

Note: I am not developer and I don't work for Nokia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant book. Teach this stuff in schools!, 28 May 2012
This is a well written book that has improved my marriage. My husband bought it 6 months ago and we're still benefitting from the insights it has provided us. We still have arguments, of course, because lifelong habits cannot change overnight however both of us are now much more able to understand why the other person feels or behaves a certain way which helps us resolve our differences quicker than before. Thanks to the book, we also have a better, more effective way of relating to each other and being more compassionate when the other somehow doesn't measure up to what we think they should be.

I'm sure it would still be useful if just 1 person in the marriage read it and I feel that the insights within the book are also applicable to other close relationships in life. It is FAR more useful than books such as "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus" and others of that ilk.
