Written by recognised experts in the field, there is a wealth of new knowledge and exercises for the developer new to the topic.
The idea is that you download the sponsoring company's Dreamweaver extension which includes loads of snippets and other stuff and then work through the tutorials on how to stitch them together to produce working examples. The stiching code is shown in 4 languages - ASP VB, ASP JS, Coldfusion and PHP (no VB.Net).
Recommended for those who need to create the particular examples quickly.
Where it falls down is in the lack of explanation of some of the basic technology. Chapter 1 is where this covered but it missses out on SQL inserts, updates and deletes, doesn't cover any details of server variables and dismisses DSNless connections when this (with server.mappath) is the way most shared hosting providers like you to set up your connections. It avoids these questions by just concentrating on using local host as a testing server and not actually publishing to a remote server.
So overall some good points and some bad. I'm just not sure how much you would learn by plugging parts together without much detail on the underlying techniques. Perhaps using less languages would have allowed more explanation.
