5.0 out of 5 stars The only way to drink Guinness, 10 Feb. 2016

Guinness is clearly a God-like beverage, so you really need the official glass for it. And here it is. Feels like the real experience without leaving your house. Plus with four glasses, your mates are covered.

Dull, hackneyed thriller which tests even the most ardent reader with it's stereotypical characters and thrill-free plot. Really rather boring (I'm amazed at all the glowing reviews).

This review is from: Sheepstacker (App)
This isn't specific to Sheepstacker, but I feel the need to moan: installed the game via the Amazon app and discovered that the game will not play on a restricted profile (used for the kids so they can't access everything) without the Amazon app also being present and logged-in. What a nonsense. I've removed the Amazon app and purchased via Google store instead.

M-Audio Axiom AIR 25 25-Key USB MIDI Keyboard & Pad Controller with Software Including Ableton Live Lite and Ignite by AIR

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive piece of kit, 22 Jan. 2015

Windows driver installed - check, Axiom plugged-in and turned-on - check, firmware updated - check, Ignite software downloaded and installed - check. And bingo - everything up and running and talking straight-away. This is a fairly sizable 25 key midi keyboard, but it does feel great. I'm very much an amateur, but I'm very impressed so far. Incredible value for money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Slim Swiss pickings, 20 May 2014

I was thoroughly looking forward to this book, so much so, that I bypassed the cheaper Kindle version for the (hopefully lavish) paperback. Although they've been around since the dawn of the 80's, very little is really known about Dieter Meier and Boris Blank of Yello, so an insightful read into the marvellous mid-80's "Stella" album certainly sounded inviting. Unfortunately, although his love of Yello is clearly apparent, Jonas Warstad's book is woefully short (a skinny paperback) and lacks any real depth or detail. Nothing is truly revealed about the writing and recording process other than the basics. We get plenty of info about single and 12" releases surrounding the album release, but much of the information is factual. After finishing the book (it's more of an essay - the book can be finished in an hour) I was left feeling underwhelmed and to be honest short-changed (the book cost £10). Afterwards, I wandered disillusioned into my study and played "Stella" from start to finish, and although not especially wiser, listening to this great album again cheered me up.

Splendid slice of dramatic 80's French pop with a chorus which leaps and falls deliciously. What is there not to love?

For anyone of a certain age, The Grid's debut from the dawn of the nineties will provide happy memories. Dave Ball and Richard Norris delivered a wide-ranging dance/pop affair (not as poundingly generic as the "Evolver" era) which has aged rather well (unlike this listener!).

Modeselektor and Apparat's second album collaborating as Moderat is an intense and carefully manicured slice of downtempo urban-dubstep (whatever that is - but I couldn't think of any other way of describing it). It feels like a labour of love, and split between instrumental and vocal tracks delivers in spades. A towering piece of work and a great album end-to-end - no filler.
