5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Deck!!, 19 Nov 2013
I was very lucky to come across this deck of taro cards and very surprised to read the reviews here on Amazon, which are somewhat limited to say the least; and concentrate on the negative rather than the positive.
Taro cards in general are like chalk and cheese, there are so many different decks on the market that finding one that suits you is not always that easy; one can easily be attracted by a name, rather than a feeling that calls to you.
One of the many consequences of being attracted by a name rather than a feeling that calls to you is that you will find yourself completely out of your depth through a lack of understanding; if the main theme of the deck is alchemy and you have no understanding of that then its obvious that you are going to fall at the first hurdle.
If you are not open to your cards then how can they be open to you, the whole point of having a deck is to form a relationship with your cards through meditation.
The nature of these cards is very interesting to say the least, they are extremely well thought out, the imagery quite delightful; it is very feminine but packs a very powerful punch which is very pleasing to say the least.
The proof of any taro comes in the reading, this where these cards come into their own.
I did a taro reading using this deck, it was never going to be a straight forward reading because the basis of the reading was centred on remembering on what he had forgotten. I had decided before the reading that I would not use any spread, rather let the cards flow one after the other.
It was quite remarkable, the fluidity of the cards was quite amazing, it went back to his childhood; where issues that had been hidden for years came to light; the depth of the reading far deeper than I had expected, and an understanding which felt rather unique.
The reading lasted over two and half hours and was spot on from start to finish.
I would recommend this deck highly as it a real tour de force, remember it is not what you see but what you feel that counts!

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful!, 26 April 2011
This review is from: Bizet: Carmen (MP3 Download)
Without question the best version of Bizet's Carman, magical and deeply vibrant it is must for any decent collection. Solti has that golden touch that brings that is light and fanciful at one moment and deeply moving the next. This is for me a masterclass in how that is done and joyful to the heart and delight on the ear!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Value, 17 April 2011
this was pleasant enough to listen to but for me lacked any real feeling in the sense that although it was played well, it lacked any real depth or substance that really caught my attention. Cheap and cheerful but not much more than that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rather Fine!, 10 April 2011
The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra is without question one of the most talented of all the chamber orchestra's that we have today and this always shows in their work. That ability to reach out and touch the listener is as rare as it is is beautiful, much of the reason for this is the fact that they do not have a conductor so the central focus is always on the orchestra and the music being played. Perhaps it is the unspoken understanding of what they are playing that creates that warm depth that makes the sound so appealing on the ear and soul. It is so knowledgeable that at times it defies belief because it takes the music to a higher level and is always full of the nicest surprises.
It is in the ability to draw you in and give you the feeling that you have just listened to something rather special and want to do it all over again and finding something new each time you listen that is really joyful. This is no exception, a must for every music lovers collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer Joy, 7 April 2011
There is so much to this album because it is truly exceptional in many different ways with an interpretation of Mozart's work at its finest...the playing is remarkable because it transports you to another place that is just so joyful. I listened to the album from end to end and had to listen to it all over again. I have never listened to Mozart's music like this before, the sheer substance and depth of the interpretation is to die for, just when you think you can be surprised no more comes a note that lingers with such beauty that leaves you breathless and wanting more. The works for Horn are astounding and will have you laughing with glee in places, while at others just lost in happiness.
The flute and harp concerto is quite simply remarkable because it is slightly deceptive, just as you think it is short on the ear, then out of nowhere a depth that is deeply fulfilling and you know in your heart that Mozart would have been delighted with it, because its as near to how he would have played it.
Sometimes you can hear the same pieces by the great orchestra's of the world and they play whatever piece well, but they don't feel and this is where the difference is is with the Orpheus because they become the music they are playing, every piece of music perfect from start to finish. It is fresh and vibrant and perfection personified in the only way music can ever be.
I honestly think every serious music lover should have this in their collection and on their ipod, it is just so good.

At first sight it would be very easy to overlook this album because of the label, which on the surface has a reputation of being cheap and cheerful and lacking in the weight of other well known labels, yet this can be rather deceptive at times; this is a case in point, for this is one of the most beautiful albums that portrays Mozart's songs at their best. Light and subtle, deep and meaningful, the perfect combination that makes this joyful to listen too. Thank you Naxos I will never overlook you again!
