5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for small electronics device repairs, 24 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this to open the casing on a wireless headset which was held together with tiny Torx screws. The product was delivered very promptly and represents ridiculously good value for money. The set is compact to store and contains virtually every type of bit required to open / repair small electronic devices. It is worth comparing the contents when looking at different sets advertised as many do not contain some of the bits at the smaller end of the scale i.e. sub 1mm whereas this set did. Although I have only used 2 bits they were accurately machined and fitted the screw heads precisely. Super strong bits are not really an issue for such small screws as the screw will most likely strip before the bit does. However the bits appear to be of reasonable quality and should hopefully last well if not abused. Overall a very useful purchase and incredibly good value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for money !, 13 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I ordered this USB sound card as a replacement for a faulty sound card on my laptop PC which had left me with no sound from the internal speakers and no microphone input. I didn't expect much given the other reviews, but have been very impressed with the device. Since I have only just received the unit I can't comment on it's longevity, but device looks robust enough to last enough if handled with reasonable care.

The first point to clear up in response to reviews saying that there is no 7.1 sound or that the left and right speakers are reversed, is that YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE AND DRIVERS to enable the 7.1 functionality. The Xear 3D software provides lots of effects functions as well as providing the option to swap left and right channels.

So to be clear, the device does not come with a CD containing any software. The unit will download the generic drivers it needs to operate when you first plug it in, but the associated Cmedia / Xear3D device management software that provides control over the 7.1 effects etc. needs to be separately downloaded and installed. I use DriverGenius software to automatically detect new drivers and download them but you should also be able to find it by searching for Cmedia CM108 drivers and/or Xear 3D.

I suspect this device is being sold cheaply because it doesn't have the software bundled with it, but once you have tracked down and installed the software it is excellent! I have uploaded screen-shots of Cmedia / Xear3D software to the product description. Hope this helps !

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully finished but relies on a 3.5mm jack connection, 11 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I originally purchased this unit as an external speaker for my laptop after the integrated sound card failed since it was advertised as needing a USB connection only. The USB-only connection also appears to be supported by the photo. However, following delivery I discovered that the USB connection is for power only and the audio is delivered through a 3.5mm headphone jack. The unit also has an internal battery which charges from the USB connection but allows the unit to be used independently of a PC e.g. as an Ipod speaker. Neither of these points are mentioned in the product description.

It's lovely little device, beautifully finished and the the perfect size for portability. The supplied USB cable is retractable and comes with an integrated 3.5mm jack at the PC end. The unit also comes with soft carry case to prevent it getting scratched. I loved everything about it, but unfortunately had to return it as it didn't solve my problem of working around the failed sound card on my laptop. The customer service was also second to none. The supplier was out of stock of the black unit but searched across the rest of his European outlets and found me one that he then made available on Amazon. I felt quite guilty about returning it!

Conclusion - a great high quality choice if you are looking for a compact external speaker for a laptop or MP3 player where the sound is delivered through a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, if you need a USB (only) driven device with an integrated sound card, then this unit will not meet your requirements.

4.0 out of 5 stars ASUS HS-1000W Travelite Wireless Headset, 16 Aug 2011

This headset is great quality both in terms of build and performance. It is also quite a bit smaller than the picture suggests, which was a positive for me at least as it looked a bit bulky in the picture. The ear pads are a flat cushion design, so not as comfortable as the ring-cushion designs but still more than adequate for most applications. I tried a bluetooth headset prior to this but the difference in sound quality (both reception and transmission) is huge, wireless being so much better.
I had to cycle the battery about 3 times when I first received it before I could get anything like the specified usage time out of it. The headset remained on for 7 hours in the last test I performed.

I have a couple of questions I would like to check with other users though;
1. When charging from the dongle, the headset LED remains red initially but then alternates between red and green (about 20-30 seconds on each colour) after a few hours, but never fully extinguishes as suggested in the handbook. Is this consistent with other users' experience?
2. Pressing the Link button is supposed to answer and hang-up Skype calls, but I cannot get this function to work at all and have to manually answer or hang-up calls from my PC after which the headset is connected / disconnected from the call as required.
I contacted ASUS customer support about this and they suggested that I return the unit under RMA, but I am reluctant to do so if this is in fact normal behaviour (Skype has brought out several new software releases since these headphones were developed so the Link functionality might no longer be supported). The headset is otherwise working perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably Good Value for Money, 12 Mar 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The accessories included are:
1. Arm band with velcro fasteners
2. Silicon iPod Nano skin cover
3. Screen protector
4. Click wheel protector
5. Detachable wrist band
6. Screen cleaning cloth

Having read previous reviews I ordered this with some trepidation. The order arrived VERY quickly and I was very impressed with the quality of the items provided which fit the iPod extremely well and seem well made and robust. The range of accessories included for this price, all of which are useful, represent unbelievably good value for money in my opinion.

In response to some of the other comments posted:
- The velcro strips on the arm band were very well attached on my product, so I don't think there is a general quality problem.
- The screen and click wheel protectors are sandwiched between plastic 'masks' that must be removed; the inside one before affixing the protector to the Ipod and the outer one once it is in place. The pull 'tabs' affixed to the masks must be pulled in the direction that unpeels the plastic mask (layer) from the protector. Pulling the tab in the opposite direction will obviously just tear off the pull tab and leave the mask in place. My guess is that some people may have just tried to remove the pull tabs without realising that they are supposed to be used to remove the transparent mask they are attached to (?)
- The mysterious wrist scrap that people have commented on affixes to 2 small holes in back of the silicon case - not the iPod itself. Pass the loop of the small detachable section through both holes and then pass the plastic barrel connector through the loop. This remains in place on the case and the wrist strap can be attached or detached from this via the small cylindrical plastic barrel connector. Quite handy really if you are out and about and don't have any shirt pockets available to pop the iPod in !

A great combination of accessories at a great price, with fast delivery. Fantastic !
