3.0 out of 5 stars Buy the Roberts MP53 and save your money!, 16 Feb. 2010
Off course the R4 is a nice bit of equipment but you'd expect it considering the price! Looks and felt solid didn't really go a bundle on the remote, a bit fiddly to be honest. The sound was fine; considering it has a third speaker situated at the bottom of the unit I was expecting it to have a little more bass. I decided to buy the Roberts MP53 in the end, at less than half the price and not a lot of difference in the sound quality either.

Yamaha TSX130WH Desk Top Audio System - White

3.0 out of 5 stars Yamaha TSX 130, 8 Feb. 2010
After buying and taking back the Roberts MP53 audio, (see my review on Amazon), I went to look and listen to the Yamaha TSX 130. I was very impressed with the sound, great from such a small unit. What put me off was, the lack of a jack audio connection and the cheap looking laminate on the top that was actually distorted and looked as though it was about to come off. No option to manually adjust the bass or treble, although for my personal taste the pre-set (heavy) was the best pre-set sound option to choose. The lack of an extendable antenna was pretty poor; it came with a piece of wire to stick in the back of the unit, which made it very difficult to get good radio reception. I'm going to have a look at the Vita R4 next, at almost twice the price of the Yamaha; it will have to be good?

5.0 out of 5 stars mp 53, 2 Feb. 2010
I bought the mp 53 after reading hundreds of reviews whilst on the search for something that sounded good and did everything i required in one small box.

Living in west Cornwall i had to travel 90 miles to Plymouth to listen to the system before buying, i couldn't find anyone who stocked it in Cornwall. I was not disappointed; it was everything the reviews said it would be.

Unfortunately after one week i could not get it to accept cd's, text on the screen read, "unknown disk ", even when there wasn't actually one inside, the mechanism had jammed! Rather than drive the 180 mile round trip i had to fork out £13 to send it back, i didn't want a replacement in fear this would happen again. Luckily i have since found a local dealer to purchase another." Update ", six months later the "unknown disk ", problem has occurred again, on this the 2nd unit! So this has to be reflected in my rating, i would only give this product 2 Stars until Roberts can sort this problem out, unfortunately i can not deduct the stars on my edited review.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sony NASZ200DIR, 26 Jan. 2010
I went into a show room to view and listen to the product after reading the manufactures specification. It seemed to do everything i was looking for, in one unit!

The prominent ipod dock at the front was one thing that was off putting, it would be far better if this could have been a home for the remote to sit in.

I was disappointed with the sound, for me it lacked in bass, perhaps due to the depth of the cabinet housing it's not possible to create a deeper sound? It's certainly not worth the money, i ended up buying the Roberts MP 53 but that doesn't have the wifi, at nearly half the price it seemed a good deal though.

5.0 out of 5 stars And... 5 stars!!, 11 April 2008
This review is from: Bodypop (Audio CD)
And one, synth pop band, Germany's answer to the Pet Shop Boys perhaps? Great vocals great tunes, they owe a lot to early Depeche Mode I think. This is there best album to date, although Virgin Superstar comes close. I can't stop singing these tunes; they get into your head and won't let you go!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get this for your Halloween party!, 8 Jan. 2008
This review is from: Blood Brains & Rock'n (Audio CD)
This is a solid pumping album, from a band with similarities to Rob Zombie, Rotersand and a little Daniel Dax frown in for good measure.
This will go down well at any alternative club and great for your Halloween party's!! Buy it, you wont be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thumping alternative club-dance music, 8 Oct. 2007
This review is from: 1023 (Audio CD)
I stumbled upon this band whilst trying to find something similar to the band Mesh. I cant believe the quality of their output, every album they have released is brilliant. Thumping alternative club-dance music, I think would be the best description of their music.

Obviously there is the occasional slow track, of which I can never understand why this sort of band does them, blasting from the speakers you have this full-on powerhouse stuff, then suddenly the mood changes, why? After all that, the slower tracks sound like Pink Floyd or the Beloved to me, that's no bad thing but I'd far rather they kept on with the onslaught.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best!, 23 Mar. 2007

Along with, " Mad Bad ", this is DOA's best cd! Good hard driven pop rock songs, Pete at his best. There are some great cover versions along with some re - workings of thier own, erlier recordings. Come on Pete, record another album like this soon, it's long overdue!

4.0 out of 5 stars Less ethereal, 23 Mar. 2007
I was looking forward to Moya's new release Signature. Although I must admit this seems to be, rather a step backwards for her in the overall sound and production . This has more of a Clannad sound and feel to it, sort of back to basics, less angelic, ethereal. Takes a few listens, none the less a good album

4.0 out of 5 stars Dark and brooding stuff!, 1 Dec. 2006
This review is from: Night Thoughts (Audio CD)
I discovered this band while on the hunt for something that sounded similar to the sort of stuff Dead Can Dance put out. It reminds me of the 2nd DCD album Spleen And Ideal, I'm sure they must be influenced by DCD. The overall sound has that sort of medieval bleakness about it. If you like your music dark check this one out, their 2nd Cd The Cliff Of Suicide is also worthy.
