5.0 out of 5 stars A timeless classic, 26 July 2014
This review is from: The Colour Of Spring (Audio CD)
Just one of the greatest albums ever, I come back to it again and again and each time I hear something new. Mark Hollis is a genius and I think this is his masterpiece. This unique album has been part of my life for longer than I can remember. I would recommend it to anybody who loves music, no matter what the genre.

The Wire: Complete HBO Season 3 [DVD] [2007]
The Wire: Complete HBO Season 3 [DVD] [2007]
Dvd ~ Dominic West

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must See!!, 4 Jan 2013

Season three of The Wire continues to prove that this is quite simply the best show on television, ever. The focus of the third season shifts back towards the Barksdale crime organisation, although now the politics of "the business" have become much more complicated. The show also continues to break new ground however, giving a true insight into neighbourhood policing as it properly introduces the Western division, under the command of Major "Bunny" Colvin. Also playing a huge role in the storyline is the backstabbing and wrangling of Baltimore City Hall. And of course everything is connected.

As usual with The Wire, the acting is second to none. Once more some of the new characters take centre stage, although never at the expense of the characters we have grown to know (and mostly love) over the previous two seasons. The beauty of the Wire is its complexity; it just draws you in and makes you want more. The story and characters constantly evolve, and the minute I finished this season I wanted to do two things - watch the entire season again (or perhaps the entire series!), and watch the next season as soon as possible.

Entertainment in any form gets no better. You must watch this show.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy for iPhone users, 4 Jan 2013

This case is pure quality, my iPhone has been dropped on many occasions, had water spilled on it, been battered by my kids, and yet has always been completely protected and safe from harm due to this cover. It is bulky, makes the iPhone seem much bigger than it is, but apart from that it is perfection. I quite simply would not have a fully functioning iPhone only for it. For complete peace of mind this is a must buy for those who want to keep their iPhone protected.

Silent Shout - An Audioivisual Experience
Silent Shout - An Audioivisual Experience

5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate edition of a great album, 4 Jan 2013
The Knife are an indie/electronic duo from Sweden who make music that is truly unique. Silent Shout is perhaps their greatest album, and was named the best album of 2006 by Pitchfork Media which is quite an achievement. It is a fantastic album full of memorable and haunting songs.

This deluxe edition is unbelievably good value for money. Not only do you get the original album CD, you also get a CD of their live concert in Gothenburg on April 12, 2006. Also included is a DVD which consists of a recording of the same show, as well as all 11 of their (sometimes excellent - Pass This On for example) music videos, and a short film.

It goes without saying that this beautiful package is a must have for all Knife fans, even if they already have the original Silent Shout CD. And for those who haven't heard of the Knife buy this - you won't be disappointed

5.0 out of 5 stars top class, 4 Jan 2013
This review is from: Programmed to Love (Audio CD)
Programmed to Love is a great album, full of classic tunes such as Cylons In Love and Swollen. Bent are one of the great progressive dance (if that is the right term) acts of the last decade and should have been much bigger then they were. This album is perhaps their best, uplifting and relaxing. And of course it also features the amazing voice of Zoe Johnston! I would wholeheartedly recommend this album for any electronica fans, as it is unique and top class.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic from the 90's, 5 Oct 2012
This review is from: Gentlemen (Audio CD)
This is a brilliant album. I first saw the Afghan Whigs live in the mid 90's at a musical festival and was instantly blown away by them, even though before that day I had never heard of them. They were hard, edgy yet full of soul. This is the first album I bought of theirs and it is still my favourite. The songs are very autobiographical and personal, yet sound fantastic.

I could not recommend it more. Now, at least 15 years later, it is still one of my favourite albums and I still listen to it regularly. It is as relevant today as it was back then, check it out.

Quite easily one of my favourite albums of all time, every since I first stumbled across it back in '97. Laid back and groovy, this is the Corporations best album. Quite simply a true classic, check it out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Huge Disappointment, 5 Aug 2010
This review is from: Perrier's Bounty [DVD] (DVD)
This movie really doesn't live up to its excellent cast. Although the performances of Cillian Murphy and Jim Broadbent stand out, with some nice supporting turns, they are let down by a meandering script that goes nowhere.

There are some moments of amusement but overall this film is boring and very predictable. A complete waste of an hour and a half, Perrier's Bounty doesn't come close to being half as good as Intermission. Avoid.

Preacher: Ancient History
Preacher: Ancient History
by Garth Ennis
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 28 Feb 2007
I was surprised by how much I liked this seeing as it is a detour for Preacher. It was fun to see something different from the main story arc, and it was great to actually enjoy the adventures of three of the most unsympathetic characters in the series so far; the Saint, Jody and T.C.

Needless to say, if you've never read Preacher, do. It doesn't matter if you are a fan of comics or not, it is hard to think of anything more imaginative or entertaining than this series. Gory and funny in equal measures, Preacher: Ancient History is a prime example of this classic and acclaimed series. Give it a shot - this book is as good an introduction to the series as any. And if you like this, wait until you get to the main story!!
