4.0 out of 5 stars Chinese food at home music, 13 Feb. 2013

If we cook our own or buy one and have invited the in-laws around then we stick this on and they love it. All we need is some decent lanterns! I'm not Chinese and I have no idea of the authenticity of the music but for my Western ears this is enjoyable and does add an ambience.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT, 13 Feb. 2013

This review is from: NeoCal Advanced Calculator (App)
Starting from a basis of accuracy, my preferred test is 1/9 * 9 which will give an answer of 1 or 1., less accurate calculators will give .9999. This calculator performed every task that I tried out and I'm really pleased with it.

I have to point out that there are a variety of options that you get to through settings and this includes the ability to have up to 4 LINES on the display. I think the reviewer "Nick" must have missed this. To access more lines you can touch the line display or go to Settings>Landscape or Settings>Portrait and in either choose.....Lines!

Joking aside if you want a calculator for your Kindle HD Fire (and who doesn't?) then this is an excellent app.

Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAMEPLAY, 11 Feb. 2013

This review is from: Vengeance Pro -Android Risk- (App)
If you enjoy turn based games such as Risk then there is plenty of game here to keep you occupied.

The learning curve is quite short and the in-game prompts help you out nicely. I found my first campaign very immersive and hour had gone before I had realised!
Granted, the graphics aren't great but as mentioned the gameplay is terrific and challenging.

Well worth a download.

4.0 out of 5 stars DECENT CHALLENGE, 8 Feb. 2013

This review is from: DoubleTake (App)
Good looking with slick graphics, synth chilled futuristic sound track and cool effects. Match the pair's and win the points.
The part that I liked was that the tiles are not static but were also moving and disappearing which made the challenge tougher. There is also a variety of differing game types such time challenges.

Overall a very good game.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT, 7 Feb. 2013

This review is from: FlightBoard (App)
A very slick way to see a flight board nearly anywhere in the world. When I launched the app it picked up over 16000 boards.

The layout is great, works well on the Kindle Fire HD and you can touch the flight of your choice which opens a drop down that gives a little more detail and the ability to send a message with the info attached.

I actually made an error in this review earlier which needs correcting; within the the drop down you can see the status of your flight, if it is early or late and by how many minutes. This is also colour coded on the front screen.

Makes it a perfect app!

5.0 out of 5 stars MAHJONG MAGIC!, 6 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Mahjong Deluxe 2 (App)
This App will not disappoint you even though it's another version Mahjong, it stretches the boundaries by making game a 3D challenge.

Controls are simple: drag to spin in a certain direction and pinch for zoom. I particularly liked that you did not need to see the face of the tile to match and that you could touch the back or any part (providing you remembered what it was!)

If you ever wanted to introduce someone to MAHJONG then this would be a great place to begin and continue as the gameplay and tiles are excellent. Purists may grumble slightly but the rest of us will enjoy!

The game is well animated, sound track and effects suit the gameplay and overall this is an excellent variation of an old favourite that looks great on the Kindle Fire HD.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful, 5 Feb. 2013

Granted, the monsters are rendered quite nicely. But I should have realised when I tried to preview the book why only the front cover was available as a preview; it's because the content is so DREADFUL, my 2 year old could have done better. To the "author", a loose term in this instance, keep my £1.99 and frame it as I hope no one else makes the same mistake I made. To anyone reading this and looking for a children's book then I advise you to download something by Elwyn Tate as his books are fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars REALLY GOOD JIGSAW APP, 5 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Magic Puzzles: Seasons (App)
I thought the app was well made, easy to use and played well.

I did come across a couple of minor glitches on the Kindle Fire HD whereby some pieces took a couple of attempts to move.

Apart from this, if you like jigsaws then you should enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY GOOD (BUT NOT SUITABLE FOR KINDLE), 4 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Genius Scan+ (App)
Firstly, the app is very easy and quick to use. Functionality is very good and you will be able to use it very easily. Just line up the camera with document or picture you want to "scan" (scan in this instance is defined as taking a photo - you do NOT drag your device over the subject!) Once completed you can then set the border of the scan and the app will enhance and correct any perspective issues. Finally, you are able to send the scan as a jpg or PDF document.

If you own a Kindle then please note that your device is not completely suitable for use with this app. It is limited by having only one camera and this is facing the user. This makes using the app very difficult but not impossible as you can not see the subject matter on screen. This prevents you lining up the document and therefore being at the correct distance to optimise the scan.

1.0 out of 5 stars QUICK BUT POINTLESS ON KINDLE HD FIRE, 3 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Conjure (App)
The good point: it's very quick but that is all that is all I can say for my use on the Kindle Fire HD.

What it does: the simplest comparison is that it's a search engine for your device.

The problem is that the Kindle can do this anyway and still offer a carousel etc. This app fails because you have to remember the name of the app to find it and if you don't then you will either need to try every letter of the alphabet what you are looking for!

The final nail; it does not index books on the Kindle which makes it, Utterly Pointless.
