5.0 out of 5 stars Strong and small, 26 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Got this for trips away. Rather than use my usual canvas Troop bag, I wanted a lightweight bag. This seemed ideal as it was lightweight and folded to virtually nothing when not is use. It held more than I thought and feels very light and durable. Does not carry on the bag as good as a regular backpack, but can forgive this for the price and versatility of the item. Great pack that has been used to the full.

4.0 out of 5 stars Outdoor use not recommended - but too big for indoors!, 26 April 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
My daughter already has a small remote helicopter so was looking forward to receiving this. It is about twice the size, which means a bigger battery and therefore more power. It comes complete with spare rotor blades just in case you break them during a misjudged landing.

This is a first stage model, ideally suited for beginners. There are simple controls to learn. The left joystick controls the power of the rotor. The more you push it forward, the faster the blades spin and the higher the helicopter climbs. Pull it back and the power decreases and the helicopter starts to land. The right stick controls movement. Left and right make the helicopter turn left and right (not bank), and the forward makes the movement forwards, back to reverse. This is ideal for newcomers, easier to handle, but remote veterans will find it limiting because to turn in flight, you have to hover, turn the helicopter to the direction you want then push forward to go - no banking left and right.

When you switch the helicopter on via a small switch, turn on the remote (which will need 4XAA batteries to power). The LED light will flash. You must then push the left throttle forward and backward to since the two units. An audible alarm will sound to say its connected. Being larger than the small indoor only one, it was harder to control indoors, it kept hitting the walls and ceiling, so ventured outside on a wind free day. I was very impressed with the flight. It went very high and piloted it to the top of the garden and back again. Very impressed with how it handled, the height it achieved and the stability in flight. It could probably go higher, but did not want it crash landing in neighbours gardens if a gust of wind took it. On a full charge it had app roc 7 minutes of flying time. When I did land it after this time (max. height was getting lower), it could not take off and suddenly died. No slow blades, just a full stop. Good job it was on the ground and not mid air, otherwise I would have been needing the spare rotor blades. A 2 hour charge later, and was back in business.

HOWEVER….
To charge it up, the plug is a Euro style 2 pin one. It does home with an adapter for the UK sockets, This is very flimsy and when pushed in and then the socket, it started to prize open. Charging is done when the red light on the charger plug is illuminated. If you are plugged and charging from a wall socket, this means getting down on hands and knees to check as the light is underneath the plug. A better position would be on top where you could make an instant visual inspection rather than contort yourself to check this.
This is sold as a glow in the dark model. perhaps if you looked at it through night vision goggles, but otherwise don't believe the hype. I have watched with more illumination on the second hand. Better to forget "glow in the dark" and just thing of it as bright green.
The power only lasts about 7 minutes and takes 2 hours to charge, so be prepared to use it in short bursts rather than long goes. The instructions say you must let the battery cool down before charging, so its about 2.5 hours per use whilst it cools and charges. OK for adults, but children will get frustrated at not being able to use it.

I like this RC helicopter, and if the niggles could be fixed, it would be great. Although it is an indoor model, I found it best outside in a wide open space like a park or field. Just be prepared for 5 minutes use and take other toys or things to do after the battery dies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Keeps the chickens healthy, 15 April 2014

Every 2 refills, I give my chickens this. They seem to like it, can't see any difference in them, so just assume that whatever its doing, must be OK. Makes the water look stagnant colour, but other than that, no problems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good to keep by you, 15 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These were being sold at a fairly good price for a box of batteries, and as I now don't bother with rechargeable, went for them. They seem to last OK, not poor but not fantastic. I would say an average life cycle of the batteries makes them a worthwhile purchase to use in remotes etc. If you have a piece of equipment that is a heavy usage, then look elsewhere as these will be eaten up too quickly. For those demanding tasks, Ever-ready or Duracell work best, especially the top of the range ones - but you pay the price for that.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the model it replaces, 15 April 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
If you are after a lawnmower that will collect the grass, cuts at different heights and will stripe the lawn, this will do it all. And for that and the current price, it is a good but. However if you already have used a Bosch, then you may be a little disappointed.

I have had the original Rotak 34 for about 5 years, and it is a solid workhorse, very reliable and sturdily built. This seemed like an ideal replacement, same company, same model, more updated design.

Fitting it together is fairly straightforward, just really the handle to fit and the wheels, the blade is already connected. It feels more front heavy than the original, which has a more centralised weight balance, this threw me at first. The handle now fully folds down, rather than just the top half. However, it seems more cumbersome to do this. The bottom are two pull levers that makes it a quick release foldaway design, but the middle 2 are screw out, like the original, but the handles make them more difficult to locate and screw back together later.

The cut height is not as easily selected as previous and for some reason, does not seems to cut as close as before, a little disappointing.

However, the worst part of all is the collection box. Gone is the sturdy black and green box to be replaced by a flimsy fold away box. The idea being that you unclip the two halves and store one inside the other for a compact storage. However, they do not seem to line up very good and it feels extremely flimsy, not very solid at all. It took quite a few tries to locate it properly to ensure it would collect the grass properly whilst not falling apart. I would rather have a more solid grass box than a flimsy foldaway one.

It seems that in trying to make this as small a footprint as possible hen being stored, the build quality has suffered as a result. I still prefer my older one and will continue using that for as long as possible.

Tacwise 181ELS Electric Nail Gun
Tacwise 181ELS Electric Nail Gun
Price: 73.07

5.0 out of 5 stars A powerful kick to watch for, 15 April 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
My second nail gun, this is a lot more powerful, or so it seems. Loading again is very easy and operation is simple. You could do it one handed, but bear in mind that it will kick back and you end up with protruding nails, which must then be hammered down. Make sure that you hold it with both ands and put pressure on the back to reduce the kickback, then the nails will go straight in.

It does come with some nails, but you may be better getting one of the selections out there, so you have different sizes for when you need them, rather than have thousands of the same ones. It comes with a very nice protective hard case of storage.

As long as you remember to counter the kickback with pressure, you will be fine with nails that go straight the way in, otherwise you will have too knock the last bits in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, 3 April 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A great little voice recorder. Have tried it in quiet and loud places, recording is great. Brilliant little kickstand at the back to prop it up on a table for easy no hand shuffle noise recordings. Very lightweight and compact, unobtrusive and easy concealed. A scene selector to get the best recording for the environments like meeting, conference, telephone, dictation. Jack for earphones and external microphone. 2gb memory stating 790 hours recording. Uses 2 x AAA batteries (supplied), so you can keep spares just in case rather than not being able to use it whilst it charges up.

The only downside was the interface was not that intuitive. So used to iPod menu, this seemed old and clunky. However, it only a niggle of mine.

A toss up between Britta and this. This came with a years supply of filters, they last longer and better value for money. No brainer, got this one. Great filter. Filters the water very quickly, nice decent size that also fits in the fridge door, can download an app to tell you when to change filters. Great filter and great value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good wallet, 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a very slim fit wallet. I have got 5 credit/debit cards one side, 5 membership cards the other, money in the large top pocket and other items in the other top pocket. On the outside pockets, I have vouchers for papers etc. It fits very neatly in my pocket and does not feel bulky in any way. It is tear resistant but if you try to tear it, it will crease the wallet. A great wallet but I felt that it would open up and fall apart if stretched too much. Probably wouldn't but I felt it may.

It was about time I replaced the filter on the cooker hood, so I went for these. Easy to cut to shape and easy to fit. They seem to be working, so does the job they are supposed to do.
