3.0 out of 5 stars Similar to knowing about mindfulness but without strategies to help!, 22 Jun 2013

The overall gist of the book is good and useful for anyone caught up in the spiralling negative thinking although if you are sufferring from anxiety or panic attacks at the moment then there are other books better than this one as a self-help tool. It is a good read but there are no strategies included to overcome the negative thoughts only suggestions to dismiss and take no notice of them, a bit difficult for the person who is in the thick of it but would be a better read once the person is feeling better in themselves and can look at the book in a generalised way rather than a self-help book as not much self-help tips included. I would reccommend this book for people wanting to look more positive at life and understand that negative thoughts play a big role in our well-being and happyness but not for anyone wanting a self-help book for negative thoughts that are causing anxiety or panic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for understanding anxiety and panic attacks, 22 Jun 2013

I was sufferring from anxiety and panic attacks following a stress burnout at work, my gp had tried me on various medication but the side effects made my anxiety so much worse so I got the book to try to understand the cause which this book provides. It's simple reading for any non medical person to understand the way the brain/mind/body reacts to fear and provides strategy's for managing panic and not being scared of anxiety. It looks at the human being having daily needs and if these are lacking anywhere it can be the cause of stress and anxiety so makes you look at yourself in a more kinder light and help to fulfil your needs in order to reduce anxiety. This book is good for anyone sufferring from stress, anxiety and panic attacks. It has helped me tremendously to combat panic attacks and to accept anxiety symptoms as nothing that can harm you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dead man running, 9 Feb 2011
Billy,s book takes his reader,s on a journey through his life, and all his ups and downs. His description of Farnworth during the 50s and 60s, brought back many of my own childhood memories. Despite his unhappy childhood and battle with his Demon,s, Billy managed to run the Atacama marathon, and then write about it in his book. Billy,s book and marathon run is truly a remarkable acheivment and serve as an inspiration to us all.
