Having been a Doors fan for some time now (previously owning all of their releases on Vinyl, how old?) I couldn't resist buying this compact collection for instant gratification. I don't think I could say anything about The Doors that hasn't already been said....countless times, but I would like to take the opportunity to welcome anyone under the age of 15 who might be unsure whether or not to make this purchase, DO IT! you will not be disappointed, the L.A. Woman album is worth the money alone, as well as Jim Morrison's genial words, you have Robby Kreiger's effortless guitar, Ray Manzarek's hauntingly beautiful ivory tickling, John Densmore's timeless timekeeping & for this album only, in my opinion, the best Bass guitar player in the world, Jerry Scheff (Jim Morrison himself was in awe of Elvis' bassist, Scheff, & couldn't believe that they'd secured his services for this album! that's endorsement enough for me!) So, buy this, lock the door, slip the disc into the hi-fi, turn the volume up to 11 & drift away on a wave of Morrison's poetic musings....Bliss!

5.0 out of 5 stars The professionals choice., 26 Aug 2011

Being a bricklayer for some 30 yrs or so, I find this tool a must for any professional builder out there. Having tried all the alternatives to this instrument, it was a pleasant revelation when I was introduced to it by a Canadian friend of mine (although he did own the 'original' Hubbard version of which I have found it impossible to buy online!).
These tools last longer, give a tidier finish & are much more versatile than, say, your usual jointers (without naming names!)& because of these factors I can't see me ever returning to my previous jointer of which I used without fail for 27 yrs, which just goes to show the strength of feeling I have for this innovation. But don't take my word for it, buy one & try for yourself, the worst thing that can happen is that you end up £10 out of pocket! (which is a small price to pay for such a device!!)
Thank You for reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lykke Lots!, 9 Jun 2011

This review is from: Wounded Rhymes (Audio CD)
Having relatively recently discovered the delights of the immensely talented Lykke Li, I have absolutely no option but to say 'watch out world!'. What we have here is a talent that is above & beyond the expectations of a 24 year old songwriter & a rare change from the current stream of bubble-gum pop manufactured by the faceless corporate big-wigs in their quest for mind numbing world domination....( and breath!).
From the opening line through to the final note, this album is a sheer delight on ones ears, just sit back & allow yourself to be transported to another world, let the melody wash over you like a warm summer breeze whilst listening to the clever musings of an old head on young shoulders.
whether you Lykke (see what I did there?)it or not, the marvelous Miss Li is going to be around for some time to come, so do yourself a favour & get on board from the ground floor, you won't be disappointed.
YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic trip through Newcastles history, 21 Mar 2009

This film was the forerunner to the much acclaimed 'Get Carter', as in, it was set completely in & around the city of Newcastle-upon Tyne.
It tells the story of a gang of crooks who pull off 'The One' big robbery that will set them up for life, but not all runs smooth & eventually the success of the heist rests on weather or not each member can hold their individual nerve.
Gritty & gripping from start to finish with the added interest of some familiar settings in the city itself.
