Hunger: Sean Kelly: The Autobiography
Hunger: Sean Kelly: The Autobiography

Edition: Hardcover

3.0 out of 5 stars good but needs some editing..., 31 Aug 2014
Compelling read but very dry. The odd bits of emotion or humour therefore stick out, since this book's very matter of factual style can get a bit like reading a laundry-list of his amazing accomplishments.
A little more on the feelings and descriptive writing would not have damaged the image of who is an amazing modest "farmer's buy done good" on a bike. He should have run it past a ghost writer to make it a great read, as "Lance the Liar's" book undoubtedly was in it's day. Spellchecker would have been a boon too.

1.0 out of 5 stars looks nice but..., 6 Jan 2014

one of the 2 I bought for my bike failed after 3 months. The bottom toe just fell away, so the bottle drops down the down tube.
6 months on both are cracked: what a load of rubbish.I've only ever replaced cafes before as they didn't suit the bikes paint job but these are the first ever to actually fail. Don't buy.

Love the fold back reflective cuffs - it allows venting to stop you over heating. Works well for me who's tried loads of "breathable" jackets that make me feel like a sauna on wheels. Also like the colour contrast on the body. It really works well against the wind, rain and cold. I miss a rear pocket to keep a puncture kit or banana.
The fact it packs down so small into its sack is also useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars does what is says on the packet: and some, 6 Jan 2014
Had it in the fridge for months wondering what to do with it.
Just rebuilt new nose rubber bridges on my Oakleys in bright blue, put dots of it on remote control buttons so you can feel them in the dark and spot the power button in a hurry on the tv remote (they have so many useless buttons only kids know what they do).
Going to try to make a custom built condom tonight in red. It says on the packet I'll have to stick it in the fridge to go hard....

4.0 out of 5 stars lovely watch, buttons an issue, 17 Sep 2013
I've had this beautiful tough model of mine on my wrist every day for the last 18 months. been cycling, sailing, white water rafting, climbing, swimming, showering and running with it.
The top button started getting sluggish (didn't pop back up) after about 14 months, but when the lower button did the same it was time to return it to Seiko through JLP (give a 2 yr warranty)
Seiko said its not covered under warranty as buttons were bent - complete rubbish -I don't use the thing to open beer bottles, but press them with my pinkie to stop/start the timer. Its a design flaw to be aware of. Cost to repair £30.
Also; lovely as the strap is with its stay clean yellow stitching- the sliding leather strap retainer fell off within 2 weeks from new.The end of the strap is a bit thin so curls a bit.
They couldn't have made the date numbers any smaller to ensure its almost unreadable in low light. The watch glass and shiny black case are as fresh and unblemished as the day I bought it. My strap is looking just a bit worn and exhausted after sea water and everything else I throw at it. Cost of a new strap to bring it up to the fresh look once more is £35....

5.0 out of 5 stars great for a professional waiter service, 20 Aug 2013

Arrived in time for the Barmitzvah so it served the champers perfectly and not a stem was broken. They do whiff heavily of rubber so air them and wash them before use; or your reception will smell like a Kwikfit garage.

2.0 out of 5 stars waterproof - sometimes, 20 Aug 2013
Having had mine now for 1 year I can say I've tested in many conditions every week.
Its very sluggish even with a fast SD card in so taking an action photo won't be high on the agenda. Delay is an unacceptably irritating 1/2 second.
Microscopic photos are very good. Wide angle stitched photos are good. Video is good. The self cleaning coating on the lens is sometimes effective. Visually the camera looks pig ugly but its tough.
I took mine into the surf at the sea-side last week(depth about 2 feet, crashing waves). Within 5 minutes a message appeared as the lens steamed up, telling me "data error".
I took it out of the sea, waited for the case to dry- opened the battery compartment up to discover the seawater had seeped in thought the clean tightly closed undamaged rubber seal. Also it was wet inside the separate data cable port. Its totally dead as seawater is the ultimate killer with electronics- warranty has run out as the water flowed in. SD card is usable. The camera? Chucked in bin.
Also note the GPS- for which I paid a premium - I learned to keep switched off after the first month as it drained the generally very weak battery down within an hour.
A good buy? - Nah. Expensive Tonka toy your kids can play with in the paddling pool.
