this quality of TV film making harks back to the good old days of Brideshead, Pride and Prejudice and Jewel in the Crown.

3.0 out of 5 stars who would be a hotelier?, 23 Aug 2010
This review is from: An Innkeeper's Diary (Paperback)
a little on the name-droppy side but fairly entertaining.
as an occasional guest at the Castle I can recognize many of the highs and lows experienced by the author.
I find Alec le Sueur's account of running a hotel in Tibet far more amusing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Verdi Requiem, 6 July 2010
This review is from: Verdi: Messa da Requiem (Audio CD)
What a powerful performance from Pappano and his Roman orchestra and choir. I'm a little worried about Villazon - did I detect signs of his throat problems (now hopefully resolved)? Magnificent - to be put alongside Toscanini and Guilini.

not E Nesbit's finest but still an important read as part of her complete work. Certainly not another Railway Children.
