5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, 11 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: A Lion in Paris (Hardcover)
An absolutely charming story with delightful images. The lion is so utterly endearing and the little twist at the end is magical. I can imagine this would be a really special book to read on the way to Paris to immerse children in the experience, but even if you're in England it's a fantastic route into look at France, its history and geography, as well as being a lovely, lovely story book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for Children, 11 April 2014
As others have said, this is a very thought-provoking, moving book, but had I heard this story as a child I would've lain sleepless for nights on end. It is haunting and lonely, which are feelings children need protecting from. I'm not suggesting we shouldn't discuss death, but its presentation in this book is stark and, for more sensitive children, could be extremely upsetting. As an adults' picture book it's fascinating and quite beautiful, but I would really stress that children could be very saddened by the harsh reality it presents.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poorly made, 18 April 2013
I needed more space for my hamster so I upgraded to this except it came with no instructions as to how to put it together. As it turns out the wheel wont spin at all because of a design flaw and the platform is very flimsy. I will see how it goes but Im a bit worried something will go bump in the night if Cecil gets too playful! Doesnt come with a water bottle or food bowl which is fine, but as far as value for money goes its not great... Does the job though and Im sure he wont escape!

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, 12 Feb 2013
The novel itself is beautiful, charming, heart warming and an utter delight. Sadly, the kindle version is completely littered with errors. Many, many mistakes are consistent throughout, such as the mistyped comer where it should read corner and fall instead of full etc. Occasionally the word is so warped by errors that it is completely impossible to determine the meaning and there is at least one example of a string of punctuation and letters in place of a word. If you aren't shy of a little translation it's an excellent price, but for me it altogther marred the experience of such a tender read.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you liked this..., 4 Dec 2012
...you'll love Amazon's "15 minute tax returns." A great follow up to Starbucks' "30 minute fraud" (foreword by George Osbourne).

5.0 out of 5 stars 50 Shades of Tax Avoidance, 4 Dec 2012
Fifty shades of fabulous filth. But more importantly, what disgusting behaviour on Amazon's part. Tax avoidance - now that's filthy. Dirty swines.

4.0 out of 5 stars Scrumptious!, 3 Mar 2011
Amazing product. I don't have an oven at university but baked goods are high on my list of priorities. I decided I wanted hot cheese scones for lunch today and 25 mins later, I'm eating them! Wonderfully simple to use and very quick. Good value for money product, especially once you gain the confidence to experiment with it. Only criticism is that they are by no means uniform or particularly attractive as the machine crumples the paper cases, but once iced, buns look pretty and taste delicious!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning book, delicious food!, 27 Sep 2010
This review is from: Moomins Cookbook (Hardcover)
I have just finished making and eating a three course dinner from this cookbook and it was thoroughly beautiful. The whole experience was exciting; from getting the book to pouring over the illustrations and delightful selection of quotations, from selecting what to make to sampling the end results and seeing my family's delight.

I made the pea soup, followed by Hungry Moomin's potato bake with Fisherman's summer cake for afters and warming mugs of apple grog. The recipes were generous enough for our family to have sufficient leftovers for lunch tomorrow, which is even better! The instructions are very straightforward and I had no problems at all. This book is a complete joy.
