5.0 out of 5 stars Great time travel romance mystery books, 9 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I am really glad I picked this up as a freebie. Couldn't put it down and had to buy the next 4 books in the series! This book sets the scene for the time travel adventures and ongoing romance of Simon Cross, a professor in occult studies and Elizabeth West his assistant. There are traces of 'Pretty Woman' in this series as Simon is a minor member of the English landed gentry and Elizabeth is the daughter of a professional gambler from Texas. Unlike many books like this the historical sections reveal plenty of good historical research, the sex is there as an integral part of the romance but not thinly disguised porn/graphic, and there is plenty of amusing laugh out loud bits to lighten the often serious and dangerous nature of the adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars nice real leather shoes, 15 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good quality shoes which feel comfy which is what I would expect from a pair of hush puppies. Not any cheaper than in the shop though in fact I think they might be slightly more as I am certain the ones I tried on in the Shuh shop were 50 and not 55.

2.0 out of 5 stars cancelled as not leather, 15 Sep 2013
This review is from: Lotus Womens Zolia Boots (Shoes)
Ordered these thinking they were a quality leather boot with the lotus brand name. Looked them up elsewhere as there is nothing on here to say what material they are made of and discovered they are all synthetic. Over priced in that case. Cancelled order (which I hope has went through).

The Memoirs of an East End Publican
The Memoirs of an East End Publican
by Eddie Cogger
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book for family historians or anyone interested in the local area., 11 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this book from a second hand book dealer on here. A second cousin had picked a copy up (don't know where, maybe his local library as he lives in the Essex area) and told me about it. I was overjoyed to discover it is filled with family photos and descriptions of relatives. There has obviously been some artistic licence taken which has resulted in some 'embroidering' of Eddie's tale, but then is this not in the usual spirit of family myths, legends and history! The author is a cousin of my Dad's. As I live in Scotland and never met any of my Essex relatives apart from a vague recollection of my grandmother as a very small child I am really glad to have a copy.

ATTIS Turmeric & Neem Natural Handmade soap | Vegan
ATTIS Turmeric & Neem Natural Handmade soap | Vegan

4.0 out of 5 stars nice soap, would have been even nicer as a glycerine version., 9 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this soap to try because of the Neem content which I have found works on my psoriasis. It has a nice 'medicated' smell which is still pleasant and fresh. I would have liked it even better as a glycerine version which would have been less drying. Unlike a lot of other Neem soaps on amazon and elsewhere this seller listed every ingredient in the soap and it was clearly a handmade quality soap and not a 'handmade from a cheap soap base' soap. There is a lot of this now - someone buys up cheap soap base which is just like the junk you buy in the supermarket and most shops, full of nasties including SLS etc. melts it; adds some colours, scents, essential oils, herbs etc etc. then sells it on as 'handmade soap'.

Saw these when on holiday around the Western Isles. Silly me thought they were generally available so decided to wait until we were back in Oban to buy some - Arrgh! none! Looked in various touristy shops on way home, none. Looked on amazon, there they were!
This company sent them out promptly. I am quite sure that I ordered these ones, set 2 with the 'handwash only' pic as part of the set. The company sent out set 1 with the Nag, nag, nag and (rainy) wish you were here ones. I obviously wasn't quick enough to get Set 2... I was more than happy to receive the alternative, but other customers might not have been so maybe they should have sent me a wee e-mail to check or put a wee note in saying sorry this was all we had left, hope it will do if not post back...just saying....that is why they got 4 stars and not 5.

The Millennial Sword

5.0 out of 5 stars great twist on the arthurian legend with a modern twist, 11 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an excellent read. Viv arrives in the big city with her cat and gets handed a huge sword by an old woman. Not just any sword, this is excaliber and Viv is now the new lady of the lake. She then meets the Piper, who has been cast out of faerie by the Queen, Morgan Le Fay. Despite this and other happenings Viv keeps her feet on the ground, finding a place to live, starting her new job and making friends - trying to do normal things while fighting the big bad. Not going to spoil the story which has a number of twists and turns in it by a long description. There is a nice bit of romance without all the usual graphic sex, which is nice. However, this is still a grown up book which has an underlying theme of what lies below the surface both in people and in their motives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written, 31 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An excellent, well written book. This author's books are being sold for peanuts (or free) obviously as she tries to make it in the cutthroat world of writing. She should try selling her books for a decent price, I for one would be happy to pay it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, but abrupt end, 19 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the 3rd book in the Highland Destiny series. You really need to read the other two books in order to know what is happening. All 3 books are excellent. Much of it is set in the Scottish Highlands and unlike some US authors of this ilk Laura has obviously done quite a bit of research and/or visited the areas she talks about. There is the odd jarring error, particularly in her ideas of 14th century Scotland (or anywhere) with costume, food and living standards which belong more in the 17th/18th centuries rather than the middle ages. Apart from this the story line is compelling. Each book follows a different couple, but essentially follows on from the book before. Not going to say too much about it as that would spoil the story for others.
Have only given this book 4 stars as it ends very abruptly and the reader is left looking in disbelief at the page which actually says 'The End'. I would hope there is a fourth book which ties up the loose ends.
