They stick well, and work well on short pile carpet.
A good product, "does what it says on the tin".

4.0 out of 5 stars Cost effective, good sound, but MP3 creation trick for mac., 14 Feb. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a cheap cost effective device, that is easy to set up and has good sound quality. It also has good effects and editing capabilities. It is suitable for transferring audio vinyl or tape recordings onto your computer.
I have a Mac. The problem is that this device comes with Audacity software, which by itslef will not convert records, tapes etc to MP3 file format. In order to do that, one has to follow these instructions. It takes about five minutes, but once installed, the Audacity will convert to MP3. The fiddly process of installing the MP3 creation capability, is why I have given this four stars and not five.

Create a folder in Applications called Audacity. Copy Audacity.app, the Nyquist folder, the Plugin folder, and maybe even the Languages folder. You can delete the rest of the languages if you want. Then download the Lame plugin from the link I provided. Make sure it's the one that says:
Quote:
For Audacity 1.3.3 on Mac OS X (Intel or PPC),
or Audacity 1.2.6 on Mac OS X (Intel):
libmp3lame-osx-universal-3.97.zip
Open up the zip file if it doesn't automatically open. Click on Package, USR, Local, Lib, and drag the libmp3lame.dylib file as-is into the Plugins folder in that Audacity folder in Applications. Open the Audacity.app, got to Audacity, Preferences, File Formats, and go down to where it says MP3 Export Setup. Click on Find Library, then Browse to that Plugin folder and click on the libmp3lame.dylib file. Click Ok, then Ok, then you're all set.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, in retrospect, 11 Sept. 2011
This review is from: Council Estate Of Mind (Audio CD)
I bought this album when it was first released. I thought it good, and interesting. Seven years later I still regularly listen to it.
The rhymes are intelligent, witty and paint a clear picture of the MC's life. The beats are generally sombre, inventive and well produced.
The shining gem of this album is not so much any particular track, but that it is a collection of crafted songs, rather than a hastily thrown-together ensemble of raps.
That said, the title track is excellent.
A classic of UK Hip Hop, and a classic of London music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Tronically Triffic!, 19 Jun. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Tronic (Audio CD)
A classic Hip Hop album.
Most beats are from keyboards rather than sampled.
Inventive melodies and drum patterns.
Clear rhyming and subject matter.
Very good Hip Hop with a flavour similar to but slightly harder than A Tribe Called Quest/J-Dilla/Slum Village/Common.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, 22 Feb. 2011
I read the magazine when it came out. It was cutting edge, interesting and relevant. At a time when Hip Hop and Funk had only a little attention from Blues and Soul, and before "Hip Hop Connection" was published, Soul Underground had groundbreaking interviews with Bambaataa and Westwood. I know the book will be good, because the magazine was a classic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Time capsule of 70's South Bronx, 24 Jan. 2011
This consists of a documentary made in the late 1970's in the South Bronx. It mostly follows members of two legendary gangs, The Savage Skulls and The Savage Nomads, as they go about their lives, and some interviews with gang members. Also featured are social workers, community activists, a neighbourhood hustler and local police.
Also contained is a book about the gangs.
Credit must be given to the filmmaker for good camera work and for gaining the trust of the gang members to allow an insight into their personal lives.
The DVD should be viewed alongside the more comparative "Flying Cut Sleeves" which features some of the same gang members in both earlier, and updated footage. Two books; "Can't Stop Won't Stop" by Jeff Mao and "Yes Yes Y'All" by Jim Fricke should also be read to gain more understanding of the period in relation to the foundation of Hip Hop.
The above films and books are a valuable research tool for students of inner city sociology, and for people who want to understand more about the environment from which Hip Hop emerged

This marks a welcome return to form after the last "Singing" album. This is almost as good as Fishscale. It is a very good album, one of the best of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming and Worthwhile, 9 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Bring Him Home (Audio CD)
A pleasing collection of well known songs. Alfie Boe's powerful yet controlled voice radiates warmth. The type of album you listen to again and again and will never grow tired of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not so grumpy old man exasperated with modern life!, 20 Dec. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An easy to read plea for commonsense in a world losing it's head. If you have ever phoned a call centre, visited a supermarket or been an aeroplane passenger and found the experience full of frustrating anomalies and annoying inconsistencies then this book is for you. The short funny chapters are ideal to read on the train, bus or during commercial breaks. This book is funny, relevant and should be mandatory reading for CEOs of any company with a customer service department.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good., 17 Nov. 2010

The only minus would be that the reproduction quality is not excellent, but it is good enough. The range of photos is amazing, and they span along time period. It is a good coffee table book and does the title justice.
