5.0 out of 5 stars Another 5* Review for this fantastic game! NO SPOILERS, 9 July 2013
This review is from: The Last Of Us (PS3) (Video Game)
Could you be the Last of Us?

I doubt anyone will see this review in amongst the swathe of positive feedback being left on Amazon, but alas, I cannot stay silent, this game is fantastic. I would describe it as 30% Survival Horror (Original Resi' style) 30% Uncharted (minus the epic set-pieces such as the Plane and Train sections) 30% resource management (akin to perhaps Resi 4 & 5, crafting new items from recovered resources etc) and 10% Fresh. That is my only criticism, that it borrows from a few other games, but it does it so well, that there is no issue to take with that.

The premise (with NO SPOILERS) is basically one long escort mission, but whoever you are playing as and whoever you are escorting is irrelevant and for once, a joy rather than a chore. The AI on both sides is sharp, with your partner moving to attack the various enemies (both human and non-human) from behind, while your enemy uses intelligent search patterns to close you down.

The campaign is well paced and lasts for a decent amount of time (I won't specify so as not to spoil it, but I certainly wasn't disappointed having paid release date price for it) and offers up some superb voice acting and motion capture performances, not just from the lead characters, but from NPCs as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Single Player experience and found it tense in a way I have not found or enjoyed since METAL GEAR SOLID 1 on PS1! That's right, I spent hours at a time creeping around with the same feeling I had all those years ago, really taking me back to when I first started gaming in 3 dimensions.

As for Multi-Player, it is set up as a Faction system, you can only unlock Multi-Player after completing the Single Player campaign (which is a stroke of genius to avoid people who don't know the controls or have a good feel of the game) and the missions are similar to the story, but in Team Deathmatch style. For example, once you choose your side (Hunters or Fireflies are the options, with no major differences in how you play) you are shown your camp of survivors and each time you complete a mission, you recover items and supplies to feed and heal your villagers (which can be made up of people you know by linking Facebook to the game, which is a really neat touch and doesn't intrude onto your Facebook account in any way)

So there you have it. Hopefully someone will find this review useful enough to help them decide to buy this great game. If so, then enjoy it! It may be the last great game of this generation!

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad product leading to damage to Phone, 10 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Just a word of warning. I bought this for use with my HTC Wildfire S and when I first used it (literally the first time only) it was great! Since then, it will not charge the phone, and has even caused the charging input area to expand, so that my official charger now falls out unless I make sure the lead is held in place by a book or similar.
I knew it was cheap, but I figured it didn't have a lot to do, hence the low price.

5.0 out of 5 stars The thinking man's Shooter, 1 Oct. 2011
If you are looking for something with fantastic graphics, detail crammed into every single inch of every single room in every single environment, with at least 3 different approaches to every scenario (like Far Cry 2 tried, but failed to do) then this is for you. It is absorbing, thought provoking and fun! It is slower than most shooters as there is alot to consider with every move you make, every Augmentation you choose and every person you interact with, but this doesn't make it a bad game, it's just not brainless and wasn't cobbled together purely to make money, the creators at Eidos Montreal clearly were passionate about Deus Ex and it shows from start to finish.
If you are looking for something to last you between CoDs and Battlefields then don't buy it, otherwise, buy it and love it to death.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absoloutely, fantastically, hilariously brilliant., 12 Jan. 2009
I really cant say any more than has been said; sucidal overtaking BMW drivers, the man drawer (so true!), the imaginary bus. This DVD is laugh-out-loud from start to finish and the extra appearance in the Apollo has no double material, fantastic!

Especially at this price, buy it now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stop complaining!, 12 Jan. 2009
My girlfriend got me EndWar for PS3 and a headset to go with it and I love it!

You play as one of 3 factions (the USA, Russia or the European Federation - a sort of, US of Europe) and each one has 7 types of units:
Riflemen (Soldiers)
Engineers (Anit-Air / Tank soldiers)
Transports (Anti-Air / Troops and for quickly moving troops)
Tanks (Anit-Transport)
Artillery (Long range, massive damage)
Gunships (Anti-Tank / Riflemen)
Command Vehicle (Handles Air Strikes etc)
All of these untis you can upgrade with various attacks, special abilities or extra HP etc.

The voice commands are simple and use a "Who, What Where" principle (Unit 2, Attack, Hostile 5) and picks up on 9/10 things you say with 100% accuracy.

The campaign is a good premise (WWIII) and fits in with what you are doing but after completing it as the USA I felt a little disappointed with the ending movie, although you actually PLAY the story rather than watch.

Loading screens last about 10secs each before a battle and there is no wait between insterting the disc and getting to blow stuff up!

This game would get 9/10 purely because I felt let down after the campaign ended, but the replay value is huge.

To the complainers: Try a harder difficulty or try the awesome online mode. This game is huge + enjoyable but you have to give it a chance!

Hope I Helped.

If, like me, you like comedy, buy this. If not, you'll love this any way! It's 15 rating is for its bad language and sexual references, but, it wouldn't be so funny without them! Lee Evans is renound for his quickfired jokes. You'll be watching it 16 times later, and it'll still be funny! Buy this NOW!
