Manna UltraSlim Sony Xperia Z L36h Real Leather Flip Case Cover Pouch (Black)
Manna UltraSlim Sony Xperia Z L36h Real Leather Flip Case Cover Pouch (Black)
Offered by Leicke Distributor Germany

5.0 out of 5 stars Pricey but well worth the money overall., 5 Nov 2013

A premium device like the Xperia Z deserves a half decent case. This is a truly excellent product, not only does it look upmarket, it is amazingly durable also. Unlike the cheaper cases, it has been specifically designed for the Z - all the securing tabs do not obstruct any of the hatches for charging, memory cards etc. If I have two criticisms it is A: the (attractive) Leike crest on the inside surface manages to imprint itself on the screen whenever its humid, which has to be wiped off fairly frequently - and B: it's not always intuitive over what way you open the case - sometimes you open it the wrong way and take the phone out of its clips instead of opening the lid. Also, a pouch for business cards like in some of the cheaper cases would have been nice. Overall 5/5 however.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and nasty - but what do you expect at this price?, 9 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Not a proper gel case by any stretch of the imagination, it's fashioned from shiny black rubberised plastic that looks like its the same stuff that they make bin liners out of. Fits the phone fairly well, but the low rent nature of the material and the fit of this case spoils the premium feel of the Xperia Z itself.

About the only thing going for it is at least they've managed to provide portholes on the side for all of the Z's flaps and sockets - many of the high-end 15+ cases require you to remove the phone from the case just to connect the charging lead, which kind of defeats the purpose. I've bought this as a temporary measure as I've just got the phone and wanted something to protect it, I will probably bin this case pretty soon and go for something better once I can afford it. But hey ho - for three quid you can't really grumble.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impossibly light, yet incredibly warm, 11 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this jacket primaily as I am heading to New York in a couple of weeks time, and needed something warm for the infamous East Coast winter weather, and I've had lots of Berghaus stuff before and it's never let me down. Thankfully they don't do this jacket in a ruby red version (I always think these "bubble" jackets in red make you look like a walking hot water tank....), so black and navy blue are your only available colours. It is incredibly light - no heavier than a light fleece jacket, yet provides as much warmth as my insanely heavy padded bomber jacket in comparison. Only criticsm I can find is the single inside pocket - which is also very small, given these jackets are aimed at outdoor activity-type people, you need as much storage as you can for all the associated paraphernalia that you cart around with you.

4.0 out of 5 stars There are better Chris De Burgh compliations now., 11 Jan 2013
This compilation was originally released in 1989 to capitalise on De Burgh's 'second wind' following the runaway success of "The Lady In Red" three years earlier. As a direct result, it concentrates mainly on his more commercial sounding 1980s work - drawing its tracks mainly from the triumverate of albums "The Getaway" (1982), "Man On The Line" (1984) and "Into The Light" (1986). Of all his 1970s material, only "Spanish Train" and "A Spaceman Came Travelling" get a look in (even then the latter is a re-recorded version - NOT the original album version), so fans looking for any entries from the likes of "Crusader", "Eastern Wind" or "Far Beyond These Castle Walls" will be disappointed. The two original tracks "This Waiting Heart", and "Diamond In The Dark" are largely filler material. A good intro nevertheless to Chris De Burgh's work, although the album is now out of print and there are better C de B compilations out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Feelgood remake of "Cocoon" minus the aliens!, 29 Oct 2012
After watching this film for 20 minutes, it was clearly evident that this was another film of the "Cocoon" genre - a heartwarming tale of a bunch of OAPs that get a second bite of the cherry. So instead of a bunch of aliens taking them away to a faraway planet where they will be immortal, it is replaced by a trip to a charming, if ramshackle hotel in Jaipur, India, and its young, inexperienced and zealous, but well meaning manager. The characters, played by a stellar cast headed by Dame Judi Dench, are rather contrived - a recent widow, a racist wheelchair-bound woman, a closeted gay barrister, a mismatched couple for whom the trip is the last chance saloon at saving a broken marriage, and two singletons in search of love.

One by one, the individiual characters in their own ways, use the experience to deal with, and come to terms with their own inner struggles. The outcome of the trip is fairly predictable; one of the group inevitably dies, another one decides it is not for them and returns to Blighty, whilst another undergoes an unexpected and radical transformation in attitude and values. You get the picture. There is of course all the usual Indian cliches - elephants, "Delhi-belly", packed trains, and the complexities of an arranged marraige. Overall it's a good Sunday evening film - nothing spectacularly great to make it a classic, but the performances by the actors makes it enjoyable nevertheless.

This Road is Red
This Road is Red

5.0 out of 5 stars A slice of Glasgow history you never knew you wanted to hear, 26 Jun 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: This Road is Red (Paperback)
Alison Irvine's book "This Road Is Red", is a semi-factual collection of stories and anecdotes about the life of Glasgow's infamous Red Road high-rise housing estate. The eight 30-storey towers were the tallest public housing blocks in Europe at the time of their construction in the late 1960s, and this is one of many recent works to celebrate the history of the estate as the seven-year long demolition programme gets underway.

Although the stories have been fictionalized - based on interviews with real-life present and former residents of the towers - the author skilfully blends them into an overall story arc, taking the author from the new hope and optimism of the mid 1960s as tenants from slum tenements moved into their shiny new homes in the sky, through to stories of tragedy and false hope as the decline of the estate set in - asbestos, crime, fire, drug dealers, its brief renaissance as a haven for asylum seekers and the inevitable condemnation of the towers as the 2010s dawned.

It is very much a book that shocks as much as entertains - with various twists and turns, it goes from funny stories about childhood pranks and mischief yet without apology, turns sudden corners and launches into tragedies about suicide, drug abuse, and shattered dreams. Many of the stories are distinctly Glaswegian in nature of course, and a non-native will find some of the words a bit baffling as Irvine does switch into the local dialect in places.

At the time of writing, one of the slab blocks has been blown down - this book makes you want to go and see these awe-inspring buildings yourself. Make sure you do so before 2017!

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish., 19 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Followed the instructions to the letter, the tab peeled off and left the other bit of film permanently stuck to the screen protector which could now no longer be stuck to the phone.....by this time I had left the original on a dirty surface and it was useless as well. Not a great product and expensive for what is in effect a bit of cellophane.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent little device, 28 Oct 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this device to extract the contents of the hard disk from a dead laptop - I now use it as a portable drive. For this purpose it is excellent, although do note that it is supplied in bits and you have to assemble it yourself - it helps a lot if you have a set of jewllers' screwdrivers as the screws are very, very small and fiddly. Once assembled though it is great, no drivers required as they install automatically. All in all great value.

3.0 out of 5 stars I am not convinced....., 28 Oct 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The title of the book says it is all about running an eBay business, but in actual reality only about 30% is about the real nitty gritty of this which is what I was looking for. I would have liked to have seen much, much more detail on the legal and administrative side of it - which is compressed into just a few pages. Most of the book is actually about just general buying and selling on eBay most of which I know about already as a casual user of the site in the last 10 years. Don't get me wrong, there ARE a lot of good tips and tricks about how to list items, how to buy without paying over the top and how to reduce the amount of fees you pay. The book just seems to be padded out with a lot of rather rudimentary information that you could have easily worked out for yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, but deteriorates fast., 28 Oct 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I went for this because the horrid gel cases ruin the styling of what is a very nice phone. I don't mind taking it in and out of a sock/pouch like this - you get used to it. Well padded and protects the phone well. But if you use the phone intensively and it is in and out of the case all day long, the stitching on the velcro pad starts to come adrift and tears off. Mine is starting to go after just 3 months and it will probably be knackered completely by Christmas!
