5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful and Thought Provoking - a Must Read, 20 Mar. 2013

There are two things we can say for certain about the future: it will be different, and it will surprise. This fabulous book provides a glimpse of just how different and surprising that future may be. It also manages to succeed by balancing rigorous, intelligent thinking with an easy, accessible style - an approach to writing that will hopefully become more common in the years to 2050! The expert contributors focus on a total of 20 topics, providing reasoned argument backed up with facts. If I have a criticism it is that this book left me wanting more - more topics, and possibly across a longer time period. Perhaps an idea for the sequel...

5.0 out of 5 stars An intelligent book with heart and soul, 31 Mar. 2012

Have you ever had a first day at work? For most people the answer is yes, and it can be a nerve-racking blur of names, aspirations, uncomfortable new clothing and frantic searching for the toilets. (Or maybe that's just me.) In a revealing and highly engaging new book successful writer Simon Maier has lifted the lid on the fast-moving world of corporate communications. 'The Diary' follows the first tentative steps of Arthur Shilling as he begins work in the corporate comms department of an international bank. Armed with little more than the support of an old tutor, a new mentor and his wits, Arthur tries to make his way in the world revealing, in the process, what to do, what not to do, when to do it and with whom...
The book balances practical insights with an engaging, witty style. It is a must for anyone who has a job (it will show you the essentials for success) and anyone who doesn't (it will help you prepare, as well as making you feel amused and mildly relieved). Loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent and Insightful, 9 Jun. 2011
This book is fantastic - not only interesting and thought-provoking but also very engaging. The contributions are informed, personal and intelligent. It made me question several of my views and assumptions without being at all 'preachy', but the real trick is the writing style. The authors have produced an intelligent, insightful book about Choice that is also very warm and heartfelt. Great content; great style.

The author blends the best techniques and insights from past speakers with the latest ideas to provide a really useful, interesting guide that will surely stand the test of time. As well as the blend of classic and modern thinking I also like the author's style: easy-to-read, engaging, thought-provoking and very useful. It's a classic - a must-read for anyone serious about communicating, influencing or engaging people.
