Ceramics and Print (New Ceramics)
Ceramics and Print (New Ceramics)
by Paul Scott
Edition: Paperback
Price: 11.89

3.0 out of 5 stars An overall good book on the subject but not a 'how to' achieve an effect, 12 Oct 2013

Be aware that this is mainly an updating of the origional version - processes since the digitalisation of the photography are given more coverage. However like the origional version I found this book just as less helpful in describing clearly how to go about achieving techniques and processes as this is what I sought - however - Paul Scott's contribution and artistic work in ceramics and print is admirable if you are looking for a good overview of ceramics and print industry and how it is artistically applied then this is probably the book for you.

Worrying quality of the graphics - Artisically dumbed down...no modelling, shading or infact decorative artistic element. Waste of money...better graphics free on the internet !

1.0 out of 5 stars AWFUL, 11 Jun 2013

terrible cheapness - Artistically 'dumbed down'...bad graphics can print off far better examples of Debbie Harry on the internet and added own off peg tags to make it look like fashion retro item!

2.0 out of 5 stars Accessible to who?, 5 May 2010
Sorry but not much point in this book. I would suggest that the author is not a very good example of a practising abstract artist and this is the problem with trying to be instructive about the development from realism/observation to abstraction. Disappointing considering the title and the image I was imagining much more insight into the authors own process of creativity, width and breadth of work. It is difficult to know who this would help certainly not the intermediate or developing artist. Perhaps a beginner in art however there are other books which can do the 'step by step guide' better if this is what you are looking for which are included in nearly every how to do book on beginning painting. This is a shame as I actually like the authors work - perhaps next time she could be more bold showing the processes of the mind as well as illustrating a much more broader examples of her own voice and development.
