1.0 out of 5 stars Broken after 9 uses., 14 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This worked for about 9 roasts before malfunctioning. Now it gives outrageously high temperature readings even if inserted into ice-water. While it was still functional, it tended to underestimate temperatures by about 5degC.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not rigid enough, 8 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This looks good and appears well constructed, however, it's just not rigid enough for mixing thicker batters, such as for choux pastry, compared with a metal whisk. It does fine with things like egg whites, cream.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shop around, 6 May 2014

The metal is very soft and will deform if too much force is applied.
Overall good value for money... that said, i subsequently discovered the same kit in my local 99p store.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks good but impractical to use, 6 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I ended up returning this because i hadn't realised that the hook has to be drilled into the wall (i had believed it to be a suction cup --- the product description didn't mention either way).

It does look good, however it is very heavy and the rubber is very stiff.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fairly small, very heavy, poor magnification, 6 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Positives:
- Looks very smart.
- Made of high grade stainless steel so shouldn't rust.

Negatives:
- The magnification is negligible. At first i couldn't tell the difference between the true side and 3x magnified side
- The mirror itself is plastic and fairly small (17.5cm dia)
- The hinges are very loose
- It is fairly heavy so you'll need extra strong wall fittings

2.0 out of 5 stars Smells nice, lacks potency, 6 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This has a very pleasant citrus aroma, however, only when sniffed directly from the bottle.

In the oil burner more than a dozen drops have to be added before the smell becomes appreciable, and even then it's only very short-lived. The oil separates into oily pale yellow and thick dark yellow portions - the latter accumulates at the edges of the burner, becomes singed, releasing an acrid chemical aroma.

In the bath you'd have to add several bottles of the stuff to notice any effect.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not very practical, 17 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Pantone Placemats (Misc.)
Difficult to clean without leaving streaky marks on the surface. The coloured plastic top-part doesn't extend edge-to-edge: cork board base is visible. Grease/oil seeps through the edges leaving the coloured part permanently oil-stained. With use the placements become curved and don't sit flat on the table.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not convinced., 2 Sept. 2010
I am not convinced by the reviews on this page. Two glowing reviews, both reviewers having only ever written a single review, of this product no less.

I have gone through many a 'cheap' electronic pepper mill (and i would consider the current item in this category). They have all failed to perform adequately and all eventually fail. Ask yourself why these mills are being offered 'buy one get one free' (in case one should break down perhaps?) and save yourself the frustration and expense and invest in something pricier that you can be sure will work well and last.

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, but does the job very well without excessive noise, 24 Aug. 2010
This review is from: Mitsubishi Electric MJ-E16VX-E1
I had originally intended to buy an Ebac, but after seeing a top of the range 6200 in operation i decided against because it was intolerably noisy, even on low fan setting. The Ebac would also have been more expensive to maintain, requiring its filters be replaced every 3 months, while the Mitsubishi's dust filter can be vacuumed (they recommend every fortnight) and the odour filter can simply be washed and 're-charged' in sunlight (every 3 months, up to a total of 8 times).

The Mitsubishi (MJE16VX-E1), like any dehumidifier, does produce noise when operating, but i wouldn't describe it as particularly noisy. It is placed on the landing and i don't find it too bothersome trying to sleep with the bedroom door open while it's operating, although if you require silence when sleeping (as some do) you will be able to hear it and may have to close your bedroom doors.

The manual states that it removes 16L per day at 80% relative humidity at 30*C, which compares favourably with the Ebac, whose impressive 25L/day extraction was derived under conditions of 90% relative humidity and 32*C (for any dehumidifier, the higher the humidity and temperature, the greater the amount of water extracted; it would be interesting to know how the Ebac performs at 80% and 30*C).

The laundry setting works very well indeed, managing to dry a full load of washing in under 5 hours, but does require that you hang the laundry in a small room, such as a bathroom, together with the dehumidifier and close the door.

There are a range of different programmes on the machine but i've only used the manual function where you set your desired humidity level and the machine works to maintain it, switching itself on when the level is exceeded, and turning off when it has been reached and maintained for a period of time. Other programmes include 'Easy dehumidification', constant, anti-mildew, laundry, low temperature operation, and air-purification only. There is also a programmable 9 hour timer.

Although this is an expensive machine i wouldn't hesitate to buy again and i would recommend it to anybody who needs a dehumidifier but for whom noise is a concern. If i was to require a machine for daytime use only, or operation in a seldom-used room (eg garage) then i'd probably go for a cheaper, but noisier, machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really does work, 24 Aug. 2010
This product really does work (after a few failed attempts at getting it to stick).

Mine is attached to some wood panels rather than tiles and i found that it helps to moisten the suction cup first and then apply a great deal of pressure in order to remove any air bubbles (you'll need to unscrew the shiny part so you can see the suction cup) and then you have to screw it down very tightly.

The appearance isn't fantastic, but there are some better-looking designs around if you search a bit.
