5.0 out of 5 stars Great show, 2 Jun 2010
This review is from: Luther - Series 1 [DVD] (DVD)
The 4th episode aired last night, so I obviously can't speak for the entire series. However, based on these episodes, I have to conclude that this is one of the best BBC tv series' in a long time. Whilst it may appear to be just another detective show, it is so much more, and John Luther (Played by the always great Idris Alba) is one of the most compelling characters I have seen in a long while. Like many great characters, he is deeply flawed, his job an obsession, and he toes a fine line between good and bad. In many ways, he is like "House" who also treads that line. Idris Alba, like Hugh Laurie in House, however make sure that you root for his character.

Each episode revolves around a different case, however their is the overarching story which is possiibly more compelling. I cannot go into too much detail without giving spoilers, so I will end by saying that the show is fantastic, and needs to be watched. The only concern I have is whether the bbc will provide us a second series, or return to the safety of their period dramas

5.0 out of 5 stars No second season blues, 5 May 2009
The Inbetweeners has successfully captured life as teenager. Whilst shows like Skins make life to be one long sex filled party, with drama and crazy adventures, this show has captured what being a teenage boy is like for most of us - boring and frustrating. That's no bad thing though. It means that almost anyone can relate to the characters, for instance, everyone you talk to knows a character like Jay.

The comedy is like that of peep show in that it'll make you cringe, and it might not be for everyone, but its definitely worth watching. When i first saw the adverts I thought it would be rubbish, but give it a go and you won't regret it. I think it's fair to say that this is also a big improevment on an already great first series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Overrated X-Men rip off, 27 May 2008
Seriously, don't believe the hype. Heroes is nothing short of average American television. Personally, I've always felt this about the show, but the second season just confirmed it. The truth is, it is a poorly written x-men rip off, and you shouldn't waste your time and money on it. If you want a show with intrigue and mystery, then watch Lost which has found proper form again this year.

(Note: I'm adding one star just because of the presence of Kirsten Bell and Hayden Panettiere in the show)

5.0 out of 5 stars Best show ever, 13 May 2008
Another fantastic series from a show that's been consistently great. The storyline is darker, but remains highly enjoyable and funny throughout, Doug and Andy still the 2 greatest characters, possibly in any television show. While shows like Scrubs are getting old and less funny, Weeds is going from strength to strength. Highly addictive and worth watching, especially with series 4 starting in the summer!

4.0 out of 5 stars Return of Death Cab, 16 April 2008
This review is from: Narrow Stairs (Audio CD)
Obviously i haven't yet heard the album, but if you go to the Death Cab website then you can listen to the first single, "I Will Possess your Heart" which i think is one of the best Death Cab song's yet. Different, yet somehow keeping with their style. Based on this, and their past consistency, this should be a great album.

1.0 out of 5 stars A massive dissapointment, 27 Aug 2006
The first series was great, the second was good too, just no one gives it any credit. The third though is a huge dissapointment. Crap storylines, no character development and new characters which are all pointless. The whiny, "I love Marissa" Johny, the "bad arse" Volcheck or the biggest pain in the arse of a character, Taylor. Avoid it, and go after something like one tree hill because as far as teen stories go, it's the only half decent thing around at the moment

4.0 out of 5 stars Audioslave meets Zeppelin and Motown, 15 July 2006
It's probably gonna be a 5, but i haven't heard all of it. Listen to "Original Fire" and you'll get an idea of how good its going to be. Just don't listen to those idiots who say that they're not Rage against the Machine, or Soundgarden. of course they're not, they're a completeley different band. Definatley one to buy
