2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it for the price. Gift of the ..., 21 July 2014
Not worth it for the price. Gift of the Night Fury is a Christmas special, so not a full movie. They are both on streaming services as well, so if you are that keen you can watch dozens of times with a months trial subscription.

2.0 out of 5 stars with a whimper not a bang, 16 Mar 2014

Disappointed that the series seemed to fade out, as though Alan More had lost interest. However the Antichrist at Hogwarts sequence was marvellously dark. Perhaps it faded out as that is what heroes do? Possibly overthinking that: basically it wasn't as good, by some margin, as the first two League graphic novels.

This review is from: Armor (Mass Market Paperback)
The effects of wearing powered armour on the user sound like an interesting hook, but as it is set in a future where we are fighting bugs with guns, it reads as a more modern update of Heinlein's classic. Also, the action doesn't grip me, and the 'officer's are inept idiots' theme is a hackneyed cliche (and possibly incorrect- surely in the future we would train them for the job- like we do now, presumably...?).

Others may disagree, but basically I got bored, to the extent that I couldn't bring myself to finish it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Robust and well priced, 20 Oct 2013

Bought this to replace the Apple-supplied lead, which had come apart after 4 years. 6 Months in this is a very robust and well priced piece of kit. Does exactly what it says on the lid/packet/box, and I have recommended it to friends who need a replacement.

4.0 out of 5 stars Specialist reading, not genera History, 20 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I'm in the military and read this to support a project I am undertaking: it was entirely relevant to that, but its not for general reading, as its a bit short, and written in a more academic style. There are better histories for the non-specialist reader on the Second Lebanon War.

3.0 out of 5 stars Final Chapter of the trilogy: Had to be read really, 20 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
There were enough hooks in the first book to encourage me to get Zero Point and then Jupiter War, but after the initial set up of a Committee owned distopian earth, and a man becoming something far more as ComLife, I found JW a little dry. There were some excellent ideas, but the whole thing was really a good description of building a new spaceship and robots, and so overall the series dried out. Hamilton does better, more engaging SF trilogies

(I will still probably read about Saul and his further adventures, if there are any)
