I did enjoy the book - don't get me wrong. And I know well the places mentioned as that was the reason I bought the book.
However, the elementary grammar and spelling mistakes do detract from the story, which does zip along at a good pace. So I suggest he uses a good proof reader the next time.

A hoot!

I felt it ran out of steam after the first couple of chapters - but I did laugh out loud in places

Yet another writer jumping on the regency romance bandwagon.

If you are going to write about England then do some real research please.

Young men at University are NOT at school - they have done that - they are at university or 'up at Oxford' or 'up at Cambridge' (not a lot of choice back then)

English villages do not and did not have sidewalks - you walked in the dusty/muddy road.

Vicars live in Vicarages not Manses

And all this eating of applecakes and candy - no

This is pretty awful...

A lady of good family answering an advert for a wife to a Viscount... (why would his family resort to such tactics was never explained)

A lady of good quality travelling unaccompanied to London...

A lady of good quality attending a ball without a chaperone..

Little research has been done on this era

This was written (I think) as a bit of a joke for a gentleman and philanthropist - Eduard Speyer - with whom Elgar had stayed in the country.

I have an extremely remote family connection to Eduard and was intrigued to hear it!

The first novel had more suspense than this one .

I am afraid I had a 'so what' feeling after reading it

This is a thriller set in a long-vanished world. Literally long-vanished as the setting for the majority of this book has now been reclaimed by nature.

Eerily atmospheric and a reminder of what life was like before instant communications this book is difficult to put down.

Romance, jealousy, greed, terror and revenge are all here to be experienced before the fog really does vanish and life can begin again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toddler group kids love the Peek-a-boo!, 3 April 2010
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
I run a Toddler Group and I bought this as a replacement for our old one which had split.

The little ones really love their tunnel and the mesh panel helps mums and them to see where they are and not panic if they get stuck.

I also like the tie fastening - the old one was velcro and it kept popping undone!
