Maybe I'm too old to appreciate this book although the pictures were OK. Try and borrow a copy off someone else if the title appeals to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even spiders like them.........., 27 Oct. 2013

This review is from: Katcha Bug
This little gadget is a wonderful piece of equipment for those who don't have the desire to squash the life out of any insect that dares invade the home. It's remarkably easy to use, and it's quite rewarding to see a large arachnid potter off down the garden path wondering how he managed to be transfered from a window sill without any pain. Also ideal for getting spiders out of baths, houseflies off the ceiling (if you move slowly) and any other little beasties that are where they ought not to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Labour of Love, 27 Oct. 2013

If you are a biker/motorcyclist then you'll love this book, especially if you're one of those whose greatest joy is to find a box full of parts and then to spend years sorting it out into a roadgoing machine. This is a great story, well written, and one which makes you feel that the author is talking directly to you and assuming you know what he's talking about. It's almost inspirational actually, and it may just inspire you to look for that old Norton that has supposedly been lying in a local lock up for thirty years!

5.0 out of 5 stars In Vino Veritas, 27 Oct. 2013

The last time I savoured this particular drink was in 1964, and the memory has stayed with me, so when I saw it on Amazon - I just had to buy a bottle. It's a lot more expensive than it was 50 years ago though, but the flavour and the memories remain. It's very much a French thing - pour it into a small glass and sip it gently whilst sitting in your favourite armchair. I won't go into pretentious rubbish about aroma and bouquet but for something different in the drink stakes it's well worth a try. The French have been drinking it for years and you have to admit that they do have a taste for these things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheaper than a Mercedes and more fun !, 17 May 2013

I bought these for the Lady in my life as a surprise, and she likes them so they must be good. I say no more lest Amazon do a "censorship" on me, suffice to say that if you're a middle aged male with a Lady who shares your tastes, then you'll enjoy a pair of these.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Shelf for all reasons, 17 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I originally bought one of these shelves because I wanted something "cheap and cheerful" in my workshop. I've since bought another five! They are superb shelves and the price is also superb. They are a bit smaller than the usual shelving you see but it actually doesn't matter once you've got them assembled, and the facility to produce smaller "benches" with shelves is a bonus. OK occasionally a bar may have a dent, but it's nothing you can't tap out and for a workshop/garage they really are a great item. They do the job, and they don't overpower you with their presence.Pound for Pound these are are great shelves and I recommend them. Incidentally they are also very strong, I can stand - all 14 stone - on the bottom shelf without it even noticing!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's in the Bag !, 9 Feb. 2013

This is rather pretentious writing a review about tea bags which I don't use - She does - but it's worth mentioning that while I understand the tea is flavoursome, cheeky, travels well etc etc, - it's also worth mentioning the Amazon deal whereby you can get it delivered every month/few months and save quite a bit on supermarket prices, and of course not all supermarkets stock it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little French Motorcycles., 9 Feb. 2013

If you should discover an elderly Terrot under a bush or in the back of a barn in France, and decide to restore it, then this book will come in very handy, as it has done in my case. It's a technical/history book of Terrot filled with valuable information BUT it's in French! However as with many French biker books the pictures do speak for themselves and with a Collins French dictionary, some Cafe Noir and a packet of Gauloise you can soon translate it into readable English.
If you like French bikes you'll enjoy this, and for further reading (in French) try "Le Terrot de Mon Pere." It's on Amazon France. Cordialement.

4.0 out of 5 stars At last - a Viking with a sense of humour!, 9 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was bought for me because somebody Dear to me thought the author was the one who writes about the private detective in Aberystwyth. Well he doesn't! This book would be ideal for a youngster to read on a wet Sunday afternoon. It's a good story BUT it's written in such a style that more mature readers will find themselves longing for a sub plot, or something to go drastically wrong, which can immerse one a bit more into the story.
Malcolm Price has written another book that I know of about an Archer at Agincourt.
That is a much better story, and worth looking for.

4.0 out of 5 stars An exercise in poetic licence., 9 Feb. 2013

This review is from: The Good Thief (Paperback)
I bought this book as the result of supposing that nobody had ever written a novel about the "Good Thief." Having been proved wrong, I subsequently enjoyed reading it to a degree, but whilst it may be technically correct regarding the details of life two thousand years ago, it just doesn't have that spark which you'd normally associate with such a subject. A lot of the story can be traced back to "The Life of the Good Thief" by Msgr Gaume (1882), but this is a novel and as such it doesn't absorb you into the plot, and as usual the Romans don't come out of it very well. Considering that the final part of any story about The Thief on the Cross must end at the Crucifixion, there's a lot of space for an imaginative writer to do a whole lot more with an engaging story.
