3.0 out of 5 stars Useful information, but patronising!, 27 Jun. 2010
While the content of this book is very interesting and does give good advice on tackling common toddler issues such as potty training, food, and sleeping problems, I found it irritating at times as the writer is sometimes quite patronising. I got the impression of being talked down to, and his anecdotes about some of the questions parents have asked him reinforced this!

I bought Penelope Leach's 'Your Baby and Child' at the same time, and found this to be a much better book all round!

5.0 out of 5 stars Down to earth and reassuring, 27 Jun. 2010
This review is from: Your Baby and Child (Paperback)
Very pleased with this book - I bought it as I wanted to try and understand more of what's going through my 18 month old son's head - specifically as he kept wandering off and driving me crazy. Leach gives very clear explanations as to why toddlers act as they do, making it easier for parents to anticipate and steer round potential problems.

Hoping to have another child at some point, so will look forward to reading her advice on babies too!

Very good - would definitely recommend.

Baby-led Weaning: Helping Your Baby to Love Good Food
Baby-led Weaning: Helping Your Baby to Love Good Food
by Gill Rapley
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.69

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant guide to teaching your baby to feed himself, 5 Aug. 2009
I wanted to try Baby-Led Weaning as my 6 month old wasn't keen on being spoon fed and meal times got stressful.
Gill Rapley explains the reasoning behind her theory that babies of 6 months can choose what they want to eat, and with practice feed themselves, without their parents having to puree food and spoonfeed them. This is a great guide and helps with a lot of the worries that parents new to this might have. My son took to it really well, and three weeks in can now feed himself everything from toast to peaches to steak.

A must-have for any parent who wants to teach their baby how to choose and eat their own food.

Offered by Emjays Webstore LTD
Price: £6.27

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for teaching your baby to drink from a cup, 5 Aug. 2009
I really like this product - my son (6 months old) seemed to grasp how to use it very quickly, and the handles make it easy for him to hold. He does get a lot of water over himself, but this is all part of the learning process!

Would definitely recommend.
