Good introduction to an American military myth, 8 Aug 2013
Not much new stuff, but gives a very good overlook of a very complex series of operations. The campaign has become myth in American war history, but looking detached at it, you are left with the impression that compared forinstance to, the prolonged struggle in the Mediterranean between the britisk navy and airforce on the one side and the italian and german navy and airforces, it was a rather small affair fought between military forces not up to the professional standards of comtemporary european forces. But the suffering, bloodletting, bravery and sacrifice equaled anything seen in the second World war.
