Still the best..., 23 Jan 2013
My wife and I went to the cinema a few years ago to revisit this timeless classic. The music was performed live by a solo artist, which led much to the atmosphere. To finally own what is, arguably, the definitive version of Murnau's classic is truly a joy. Beautiful restoration, lush sound (perhaps slightly at odds with the older picture, but none the worse for that)and a wealth of information on the supplementary disc and the booklet. Heartily recommended alongside The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari and Metropolis as one of the cornerstones of early German expressionism captured on film.
