1.0 out of 5 stars USELESS, 4 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this particular one because I wanted a cover in orange. This is nothing but rubbish - it is supposed to automatically put your book on standby when you close it. Yes it does that - for a few seconds only - then it switches back on again, so you have to manually switch the Kindle off. You waste a lot of battery power with this thing. I'm going to bin this and get a different make.

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD, BUT IGNORE SPECIFICATIONS!!, 4 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have a set of these saucepans and I had to buy this sized one to replace the damaged pot that was part of the original set - the instructions say these pans are "metal impliment friendly" - THEY ARE NOT!! I used an electric whisk very briefly to mash potatoes, and all the marble interior was scraped off in the process. Therefore, stick to using silicone cookware and you'll be fine.

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD FOR SMALL PANS, 4 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is good for small pans, not so good for the larger pots. It's quite heavy when compared to a similar sized wooden spoon but nonetheless it does the job and protects your non-stick cookware.

4.0 out of 5 stars DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN!!, 4 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This dish holds a full block of butter without the need for trimming. It is easy to clean (dishwasher safe) and fits neatly into the food cupboard. The lid is snug fitting and does not wobble about. Worth buying!

2.0 out of 5 stars THE METAL ONE IS BETTER, 4 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The metal Pinard's gives a much clearer pitch than this plastic one. Clearly there are lots of things that can influence the clarity of the fetal heart when auscultating with a Pinard's (fetal poles, the lie etc), however even with the "difficult" auscultations the metal instrument it still gives a clearer sound than with the plastic model. The seller was slow in responding to queries and ended up sending me the wrong colour.

3.0 out of 5 stars WORTH A LOOK, NOT WORTH THE PRICE, 4 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you are familiar with Fanny Cradock then this will make an interesting read. However, the book is spoiled by constantly flipping backwards and forwards in life events without any clear chronological order and without any warning. This makes the story hard to follow and a difficult read.

5.0 out of 5 stars KNOCKS SOCKS OFF ITS COMPETETORS!!, 4 Jun 2014
This review is from: Janome 2522LE Sewing Machine
I have had this machine for a long time now and have used it frequently for tasks ranging from making shirts, trousers, waistcoats, darning and hemming jeans and making soft furnishings. Over the past 25 years that I have been sewing I have had many, many machines - varying from simple straight-stitch only models through to the expensive computerised machines. For varying reasons, I could not get along with the computerised models having way preferred the mechanical machines. I really recommend the Janome MS2522LE - it is extremely stable when sewing at top speeds, the speed controller is smooth and the machine is very quiet. The jam-proof bobbin mechanism is a full rotary hook (horizontal) which in my opinion gives a far smoother sewing action than the oscillating vertical shuttle race. This machine powers through denim without any argument whatsoever (and I'm talking about the heavyweight proper jeans material), and the stitches are always very uniform and neat. I cannot rate this machine highly enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT WITH ONE MAJOR FLAW, 20 Jan 2014
I have had this machine for several months now. It has an extremely vast range of stitches (however I mainly use straight stitch, zigzag and buttonhole - I don't use the overlock stitches as I have an overlocker). It has a really powerful motor - certainly the most powerful that I have ever used (falling short of an industrial machine that I once had). It has a brilliant illuminated area - there are lights above the needle and under the arm which gives superb illumination without glare. The accu-feed system is exceptional - fabrics are now fed precisely under the needle and this feature is also extremely handy for extra thick materials (the machine just ploughs through 12 layers of denim as easy as putting a knife through butter). It has a knee lift which is very handy when you want to keep both hands on your work while lifting the presser foot. However, what has stopped me giving this machine 5 stars is what I consider a major flaw - it has a "soft start" feature. This means that when you put your foot down on the control it will start off softly for a few stitches and then sew at the speed commensurate to how far you have pushed the control. So if you have pushed the control 3/4 of the way down it will do two or three stitches slowly and then suddenly zoom up to the speed you have selected. For me, this is incredibly frustrating. I have called and emailed Elna and apparently there is no way round this, the machine cannot be set to disable this feature. This is something that I am trying and trying to get used to, however so far I am finding it incredibly difficult.

3.0 out of 5 stars There are better irons out there......, 8 Nov 2013
I've had this iron for a few months now. It cost me nearly £100, and to be honest I've had more satisfactory ones for £40. This iron does what it says on the tin - it irons the clothes. However the anti-drip feature is not as effective as other irons I've had, it drips moisture onto the clothes which you consequently have to iron dry. Don't try using the burst steam function on setting 2 as you will end up massive damp patches, even with the steam setting at just above minimum. I find that the 2 dot setting is not hot enough to get out creases from 100% cotton shirts, even with steam, and therefore you need a hotter temperature. The red finish is not as striking as pictured, it's actually quite dull. The flex is quite long which is handy as it saves having to mess about with extension cables, but all in all I'm quite disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT RESULTS - BETTER THAN ANY G/F'MAN GRILL!!!!, 20 Mar 2013
I've used this grill for about six months on a regular basis now so it's time for a review. It heats up very evenly and pretty rapidly too. It cooks the food very evenly and the floating top plate makes it brilliant for pannini's and toasted sandwiches, and it can easily cope with a 2" thick steak. I would certainly recommend this way above any other sandwich toaster or electric grill (I've had three G/Foreman grills in the past).

You can use this function on low/medium/high/sear settings when using the grill setting, or you can use it on a variable temperature (in celcius) when using the griddle setting. When using the appliance on the smooth side hotplate (griddle) the best results are obtained when switching the controls to the "grill" setting and having the heat set at "sear" - if you are trying to fry bacon and eggs or any other cooked breakfast ingredient, the other settings are just not hot enough and the food will take a long time to cook and it will tend to steam rather than fry.

When using it in the closed mode with the ridged sides of the plate I have found that the "high" setting is the very best for sandwiches, panninis, chicken, meat etc. If you prefer to have your steaks rare but the outside nicely chargrilled then your best bet would be to use the "griddle" setting and then use the thermostatic control.

The removeable dishwasher plates are a God-send. All in all I am very pleased.
