How do you fancy nights in alone , with no contact with the real world for weeks on end ? Not interested ? Well , you definately should not buy this game then . This is the finest role playing game on a console that I have ever played . The game can be played in either first person (you are looking through your characters eyes) or third person (looking from over their shoulder) perspective , with easy to use customisable controls.
You start the game as a prisoner aboard a prison ship of the Emperor . Luckily for you , the old chap is feeling generous today and sets you free at the port of Seyda Neen . Here , you fill in your past , chosing from 10 different races for your character and an infinite choice of jobs . Yep- if you don't see your ideal job listed , make one up ! Each character has Abilities . These are the usual blend - Strength , Speed , Agility , Willpower , Intelligence , Personality and Endurance .
Also your character has Skills. Skills cover a wide range of Major , Minor and others which reflect the skills required to do the characters job . These skills improve as you use them . When your Major or Minor skills have improved 10 points between them , you gain a level . When this happens , you can improve your Abilities (you chose 3 to improve) and you gain Vitality (hit points) and Magicka (spell points).
Anyway , starting at Seyda Neen , you have a HUGE continent to explore . This is a place jam packed with villages , towns and the odd sprawling city. Smugglers dens , ancient burial sites , underwater caves , towers , churchs - you get the picture ! All locations have characters , thousands of them in total , all of which you can communicate with . They may like or dislike you , depending on a percentage score that comes up when you talk to them . You can ask questions , some people may ask for a favour , some will give tips and hints , others will spread rumours and lies ! You will encounter monsters , ranging from rats and birds , up to demons and vampires. Many different weapons , spells , armour , potions and equipment items are available to buy , borrow or steal ! You can join a church , join the army , become a thief in the thieves guild or go it alone . The choices are yours and some choices are more profitable and exciting than others .
So , I hope this wets your appitite to come and join me in the exciting world that is Morrowind. I'm off now to my darkened room , where I can return to my alter ego . See you in a few hours or days or weeks or .....
