Great phone for the price, 18 Dec 2012
I've been looking for a decent 'normal' phone for a while that can call, text and email. I also like to have a half decent music player on it too.
This Nokia is ideal for someone who likes gadgets but is happy to have a phone that just does the basics with a few added extras on top.
Calls - It handles calls very well - calls are very clear and there is no echoing that I have found with cheaper Nokias. Seems to hold signal well (I have rubbish signal at home and it doesn't drop calls like my old phone did.
Messaging / Social - This is handled fairly well. Texts are easy to send (the old school way!! No more mashing a screen with fat thumbs!!) I love predictive text! I have Facebook and Twitter account on here and they work well. Not much screen to see things on but OK to see what people are up to.
Email - This feature is powered by Yahoo and I think it's great. I have 5 email account and while I don't seem to get instant notifications when mail arrives, I can access each account via the mail app and quickly catch up on my emails while commuting or on breaks at work. I find it very easy to manage my mail on this device and they load quite quickly, even on 2g.
Music - The music app is OK. It's no iPod but it does it's job and saves me needing a separate device. Takes Micro SD up to 32Gb so all my music is on there! Takes 3.5mm headphone jack.
Games - I've got Angry Birds on it and it works well without much lag. So I'm a happy bunny with that one! :O) Plenty more available on the Nokia Store, many are free too!
Camera - The phone has a 5MP camera with led flash. It's OK to take the odd snap here and there but I wouldn't replace my camera with it. Not bad though.
Screen - This is smaller that most smartphones these days but then half the screen doesn't get taken up by a keyboard when you need to type. It takes some getting used to as it's resistive, meaning you have to apply pressure then swiping. It is very responsive though so far.
Battery - I have found I get a full day easily. I tend to charge every night simply because I don't want to get caught short the following day, though it probably would last. I using send a few texts, read emails for about 20 mins, listen to music for 30 mins, play 15 mins of games and make about 1 hour of calls an usually have 1-2 bars of battery left (out of 4 bars). Pretty decent I think. This is with WiFI and 3g switched on all the time too and emails set to update frequently.
General - The phone is much darker than pictured, more a slate colour but I like it. It feels much more premium than all the plastic Nokias you see as sub £100 prices. It's very light in the hand and pocket. The keypad built quality could be better. The bottom row of keys feels a bit looser than the others, but that's being picky really. It comes with a Nokia charger but I have found you can use a micro USB charger with it too which is great.
I would recommend this phone to anyone looking a basic phone but needing access to emails, social media and music on the go. It's not a smartphone, no way near, with it does what it needs to do and does it well.
I'm very happy with my purchase.
