Be Careful What You Wish For
Be Careful What You Wish For
by Simon Jordan
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Un-putdown-able, 1 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A real page turner, it was almost impossible to put down. This is a must read for all the Football Manager enthusiasts, and especially for those fans who think they could do a better job running their favourite club (Hint: You can't). The only disappointment comes with the last couple of chapters which seem to rush-by and gloss over how Jordan loses ownership of the club from under his nose. After reading this book, you'll have a great new understanding of how the footballing world really works, and a new-found appreciation for the people behind the scenes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very academic, 1 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A good read, but only if you're the most studious of football fans. The book is basically a collection of academic papers on the subject on football and can get a bit heavy with all its referencing and technical wording. If you can get past it then it does make fascinating reading, and many insights are to be gleaned from it.

The Numbers Game: Why Everything You Know About Football is Wrong
The Numbers Game: Why Everything You Know About Football is Wrong
by Chris Anderson
Edition: Paperback
Price: £9.09

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read, 1 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book falls slightly more to the academic side of the scale in comparison to Soccernomics which saddled academic and fun read perfectly. It remains a fascinating read nonetheless, and lots of interesting facts and theories are put forth that do in fact challenge the preconceptions of the game of football.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 10 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Lacking in fitness drills, this reads more like a biology and physiology book than a book on fitness for football. Also in need of an update - this book is from 2004.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's Alright, 10 July 2013

Some useful information, but with the changes in FA governance rules, it could do with an updated version - this book is published in 2004.

The Official FA Guide for Football Parents (FAFO)
The Official FA Guide for Football Parents (FAFO)

Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, 10 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Decent enough for what it is, however it is quite old (2004), and could use an update. Helpful for those with no football background whatsoever.
