2.0 out of 5 stars Probably a great product, but why was no filter included? I am still waiting to get it working!, 18 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After using an earlier model at a rented holiday villa, decided this was a "must have" item. On return assembled everything, filled with coffee (hawaian Kona) and tried to get going. No filter light starts flashing, hence no coffee. Check box, check manual, no filter in box send off to Bosch for filters. Still waiting....
I am sure this a killer product, based on it's predecessor, but not including a filter is mean and stupid from a company of Bosch's standing. Also Amazon are at some fault for not flagging the omission, enabling one to buy the filters when making the initial purchase. I am frustrated but hopeful. All those looking to buy should also load up with Brita Intenza filters at the same time, and Amazon should flag this.

I loved it as did the folks I bought it for. Definitely and unashamedly lowbrow to be avoided by the exquisite lay sensitive.

3.0 out of 5 stars A flawed but valuable account of the early part of WW2., 23 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An interesting if flawed book, with some gems of information casually dropped but rarely followed up. The revelation that nearly half of Germany's Jewish population had applied to US officials emigrate to the USA, and only about 10 per cent approved is a case in point. Schirer seems to lack imagination and perhaps intelligence, and his diaries only come to life in his descriptions of Gemany's 1940 offensives on western Europe. He does lack an interest or an ability to express more than a stereotype of the Germans he meets, even if he, in my view, rightly describes nazism as barbaric and needing condemnation. Prior to the outbreak of war his diary is very flimsy and feels highly selective to provide the apparence of prescience.

The Russian Roots of Nazism: White Émigrés and the Making of National Socialism, 1917-1945: White Emigres and the Making of National Socialism, 1917-1945 (New Studies in European History)

5.0 out of 5 stars Russian roots of Nazism, 11 Nov 2011
This is an excellent book that covers a critical phase of German History, and very deftly makes the case for Hitler's conversion from being a pall-bearer at Kurt Eisner's Funeral to a rabid anti semite and anti communist. It is backed up by other recently published books on Hitler's war service which explain how Hitler's Iron Cross First Class came from the reccommendation of a Jewish Officer! The role of the infamous "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" in the growth of global anti semitism is well laid out and I found this book illuminating and convincing. I think it is a MUST READ for anyone seeking to understand the foundations of Hitlar's world view. Well done Michael Kellogg.
