3.0 out of 5 stars What Is all The Fuss About, 27 Dec. 2012
This review is from: What's Going On (Audio CD)
Purchased this cd haveing read how brilliant it is.

Well to be honest I don't see what all the fuss is about.

For the Hifi enthusiast on cd at least the sound quality is not great when played on a quality system. On lesser equipment this may not be an issue. On original vinyl it may well be a different story.

Musically it is pleasant enough and would make good back great music. Generally of a religious theme.

Don't know what else to say really.

Having played it severaL times its not for me.

Always enjoyed Vivaldi but never really bought it except Nigel Kennedy version.

The playing and sound quality is exceptional if you have a system that can do it justice then buy it now.

One of the best Deutche Gramaphone recordings I have listen to.

But with confidence now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Voice Ran Out Of Material Though, 26 Dec. 2011
This review is from: Renditions (Audio CD)
Christmas present from the wife, what an excellent voice which starts of with 5 excellent tracks, but then seems to struggle to find remaining tracks of similar quality. With the right material she will be great.
Unfortunatly this is not quite it. Great idea with some fine choices but once these were used up the rest are fillers. Luckily only 2 or three not up to the mark. As for the production as previously commented if your playeing on a quality system it is dissapointing with overblown piano on some tracks and hit miss quality on others.
This voice deserved the finest re-production, unfortunatly didn't get it. Great for back ground music or casual listen. Serious listners will be dissapointed though

3.0 out of 5 stars Sorry To Burst the Bubble But, 5 Dec. 2011

A true fan since the first day I first heard her voice on X factor and couldn't wait for this cd to drop through the letter box today.

Sadly I felt deflated after the first 5 tacks and had heard enough. Forced myself to listen to the rest. A fantastic talent to come I am sure but as for the choice of songs I expected something more. Most of these songs could be sung by any decent female artist. It lacks sparkle and the quality of material she deserves. It all seems run of the mill to me.

I just expected something extra special that had been tailered to suit such a unique voice. Only occasionaly does this voice really appear above the parrapit.

Can't single out any high spots or low spots. Just plain average.

Not a patch on Adele the quality unique material she has is how Rebecca should have been presented

Will put it away for a day or two and try it again when my high expectations have gone. Hopefully I will feel differently after then.

Well!! what a find looking on a well known Hifi website forum people were commenting on this album. Who are they i thought so had a look on Amazon and saw the reviews. so bought it. With the volume up and sitting back and not sure what to expect the first note came thundering out the speakers. Then the rest of the instruments and vocals, wow what a sound both the music quality and the sound quality are 5*. Its not often I say that, with every track the music type changes. But what a voice this lady has she projects her voice with enthusiam and evry track comes across as though they are really enjoying themselves. If you like rocky bluse with a touch of soul this is for you. If you buy one cd in 2011 make it this one. On a good hifi you are there!! Oh just buy it!!! Still don't know who they are but will lokk for more cd's

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow What An Album, 21 Aug. 2011

Wow what an album and what a voice. Not a Eva Cassidy fan before listening to this album. But as a lover of good live recordings I took the plunge and purchased it.

From the very start it feels like you are placed in a darkishroom room containg a small crowd of people who are there just to listen to some minor artist. But from the first note everything comes alive and you feel as though you are part of the crowd. The music is raw and voice real, it feels like the audience are getting more and more involved as each song passes. With volume up (A must) Eva's voice projects above the music and echoes around the room with great clarity. The band sounds as though they are enjoying every minute which in itself makes the album feel real. All songs with exception of the last track are live.

All songs are of a very high quality with only the low level hiss on some of the recording affecting this.

All tracks will be known to any Eva Cassidy fan, if your not a fan then your in for an eye opening experience.

You probably need a quality hifi to fully enjoy this album fully. But purchase and lose yourself for an hour with Eva Cassidy.

One of my favourite live albums of all time. If you already have the tracks on a studio recording then this is still worth buying just for the atmosphere it creates.

Buy It Now!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Class Album From a True Class Act, 16 Mar. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Haveing bought this on cd and found it to be a superb recording decided to buy it on vinyl as well.
I have to say although the presentation is not not so clinical or hard hitting it is superb.
This album shows what a class act Robbie really is. I am not a Robbie fan out and out but appreciate his abilty and his entertainment value.
If you like Robbies normal stuff you may find this a little to different if your a mature serious music listner then can you can't fail to be impressed.
There is one thing of note the vinyl version is missing the last tack from the cd.
Buy it sit back and enjoy the realism of the performance

Having seen this artist as support for Ray Lamontage where she sounded excellent, intesting and musical I was expecting great things from this album. However on playing it has lost something from the live performance to the studio. Can't explain what but it seems lifeless and un-interesting. Its a shame as she is excellent live. If its a bargain it is an introduction to someone new else don't rush to buy it.

Having owned this on vinyl buying it on cd was a no brainer. Yes it may be odds and sods but each track has its own quality and could be included on a normal album. Not the best Who album but well worth a purchase if you like the Who at a budget price
