This is a very short introduction to a very good book. It is not necessary to read this to enjoy the book itself

An interesting piece of history, obviously well researched. ' Royal Flush' paints an intimate picture of life in the court of Louis X1V with all its intrigue and treachery.

This is a very well written book with clearly defined characters. It deals very sensitively with the emotions of a young boy who loses his mother in a terrorist attack.

This is a well written book with very clearly defined characters. However, as the story develops it becomes dark and sinister.. It starts off as an amusing story of disfunctional families but becomes more and more depressing as it reaches its climax. I thought I was enjoying an amusing story but was disappointed when everything started going wrong.and it became a horror story. I like a book to be either one or the other

5.0 out of 5 stars The London Blitz Murders, 16 Nov 2013

I love all the disaster series. They are very well written. The London Blitz Murders captures the atmosphere of wartime London. The character of Agatha Christie is well portrayed and the relationship between the author and Sir Bernard Spilsbury is an interesting one. This is an exciting story with many twists, typical of Christie herself.

An excellent story, very well written. An interesting mix of truth and fiction. Wonderful descriptions of the 'Hindenburg', what it looked like and how it worked. Fascinating characters and a surprising twist at the end, all the more surprising because it was based on truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Titanic Murders, 1 Sep 2013

This is a very well written book based partly on fact but with an interesting mix of fiction. The characters are well drawn and, both real and imaginary, are very convincing. The plot is fast moving and full of excitement. The story ends just short of the sinking of The Titanic, and knowing what is going to happen adds to the tension. There are wonderful descriptions of the ship that make the reader feel actually aboard this luxury, but ill-fated, liner. I thoroughly recommend this book - it is a very good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Tim's Wars" by Robin E Gregory, 25 Aug 2013
This is a fascinating view of the life of a soldier fighting in WW1. Robin Gregory has used Tim's diaries, written in the trenches, and has linked them with a commentary giving the general background of what was going on in the war. The book is full of amazing facts such as the ease with which Tim was able to travel home on leave and then back to the battle field in a war zone, how he was able to fight on one day and enjoy a meal out with friends the next day, and how he was able to get pen and ink in order to write his diaries. The original diaries are so small it must have been a long and difficult job deciphering them. Tim survived WW1 and went on to take part in WW2, still writing his diaries. This is a very good read, not only because of the interesting historical facts but also because Tim is such an endearing character.
