5.0 out of 5 stars Magnum live always a treat., 12 May 2015
i love it when great albums surface around the same time as my birthday,no problem suggesting presents and it costs me nothing, excellent deal all round, ha ha.

This is superb outstanding production highlighting(not that we need reminding) how great Magnum are live, like the previous reviewer said, excellent instrument separation and Bob Catley's vocals up front, he really has withstood the test of time unlike many of his contemporary's, yes there are the occasional glimpses of time taking its toll but in general he still sounds excellent.

The newer tracks from recent albums dove tail nicely with the established classic,so the disc flows nicely no sagging in the middle.

There's no gamble picking this up, class from start to finish.

4.0 out of 5 stars Girls aloud..................and in your face, 10 May 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Glasgow 1982 (Audio CD)
excellent release, not quite a straight copy of Radio Clyde's radio broadcast, i cant quite retire the tape now,i was actually at this gig, their 2nd headline gig at the legendary Glasgow Apollo,3rd time i'd seen them and they never failed to deliver, this release captures their intensity live, perfectly,

Sound quality is very good dspie the recording being 30 + years old. The girls power thru tracks from their ist 3 discs,,superb renditions of 'Screamin Blue Murder','Hit and Run','Nuthin To Lose' etc, classic after classic, its hard to believe it all went pear shaped not long after.

This is an excellent reminder of just how good Girlschool were, 'Kelly Johnson' in particular,it s nostalgic look back at what might have been.

Here's hoping this label can get permission? to release similliar broadcasts for KISS/QUO/SAXON/MANOWAR/RORY GALLACHER/HAWKWIND etc that were made.

Edit, looked out my old cassette, the original broadcast included 'Turn Your Head Around ' which is missed off this release.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pucker up ....., 10 May 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Approach with caution,if your well versed in these 'live' semi legit releases and the world of bootlegs, then you'll know that every purchase is a leap of faith that it will be 'listenable' ...

This is passable (just) in the audio stakes,40 years old remember, there's distoration, tape flutter, some drop out but it still doesnt destroy the enjoyment (for me ) and it still captures the raw emotion and excitement of the young ,fresh faced rookies that KISS were at the time..

It hard not to smile at the pre stadium rock god persona of Paul Stanley with his youthful stage banter, little that there is in comparison to what was to come, there's exuberant yelps in the background SImmons & possibly Criss.

Casual fans will probably give this a miss,as a die hard i'm happy to pick this up, its not perfect, far from it but i can get pleasure from it,you may also.

Packaging average, sound passable (3 stars) .. excitement ( 5 stars)

not value for money if bought at full price, photograph misleading, products are much smaller than appear to be depicted, do the job but there are better products available elsewhere. tread carefully

4.0 out of 5 stars Permanent Class... No Time For A Vacation.., 25 April 2015

Another week, another radio broadcast finds its way into the racks, have to admit i've had a few 'bootleg' discs/tapes of Aerosmith over the years but this has slipped past me,so its a first time listening perspective that this review is made...

So from the opening announcer intro to his closing statement we get some prime Aerosmith from the Permanent Vacation tour, there isnt a duff moment here, its a excellent set of standards with the odd nugget thrown in,certainly the likes of 'Toys in the Attic' & 'Same Old Song And Dance' hammer the point home immediately while 'Back In The Saddle' and 'Draw The Line' are not as manic as in the past, almost laidback in comparison but there's a groove that this band hits and when on their game its superb.

Its great to hear 'Lightning Strikes' and possibly my favourite version of ' Big 10 Inch Record',throw in 'newbies.(at the time).. 'Dude..' & 'Rag Doll' and youve got great set list.

Highlight has to be the extended version (almost 10 minutes) of 'Rats In The Cellar',the mid section has the band jamming away and its pretty cool, now i've got a couple of gigs from that era,i'll need to dig them out,i dont remember the band playing ' Rats ' like this, possibly something specifically for this gig as they knew it was being taped.

Things end with a fantastic foursome.. 'Dream On','Sweet Emotion',' Walk This Way' & 'Train Kept A Rollin' which will keep your feet tappin.

Yes sound quality is not perfect but having purchased a few of these 'Broadcast Releases' i'm happy to say its better than most and woth your time if an Aero.. Nut, casual fans may want to look else where.

4.0 out of 5 stars Young Rush having a ball............., 15 April 2015

Another in a long line of 'unofficial' semi legit bootleg releases, you pay your money you make your choice,i've bought all the vinyl/cd/cd remasters, compilations etc, these recordings are the ones you want, its a pity the bands and record companies wont release them officially.

For a 40 year old broadcast this sounds far better than you would expect, recorded in front of a 'crowd' of about 10, it sounds like,,Rush live up to their Led Zeppelin Jnr nickname, straightforward heavy rock.

Tracks 1 thru 9 come from the Electric Ladyland set, 5 from the debut disc and 3 from the still to be released 'Fly By Night' album, along with the non album track 'Bad Boy', highlights obvious, the band play to a high standard, its great having another live version of 'Here Again' while an extended version of 'Workin' Man' includes a decent guitar solo.

the versions of 'Best I Can' and 'Fly By Night' different to the version eventually released, the latter a slightly different arrangement the former with alternate lyrics.

The final 3 tracks are taken from the Don Kirshner Rock Concert' and are not well produced, vocals a bit warbly/sound muffled, like the bonus tracks on ABC 1974 not essential.

Sound quality ( for tracks 1-9 is pretty decent, you need to be realistic its 40 years old,i would say its better quality than the previously released Live ABC 1974 '
